did a search, couldn't find answers!!! car won't start!!!

Alright, I went to work this morning, and the car worked fine. When I went to too leave thoe, I turned the key and got nothing but a single click from the engine. I figured this was a battery connection issue, and went to tighten it up. Went back to start it up, and nothing happened. Then, the door chime started beeping very, very quickly. Then I heard this very strange "tick, tick, tick" sound coming from inside the dash on the passenger side. Still no start despite jump.

I got a pioneer head unit installed about a month ago, but the chime worked fine after install. Was installed by Best Buy. Not sure if this has anything to do with my problem, but alot of posts about the door chime also talk about the audio system being upgraded and then expieriencing problems with the chime. I need my car up and running, I start a new job next week!!!! Help!!!

What year is the car?
Did you have problems like this before?
Are you certain that the battery isn't dead? Just because the headlights and radio work, that doesn't mean that there's enough juice to turn the starter.

Also, is the anti-theft light on the dashboard lit? If so, you might want to read your owners manual.

Makes me think it's a battery problem.
I get that ding really fast and the ticks when I reconnect my battery.
Make sure the battery is still good. Check your connections but also take the connections out and clean them really good. It makes me think you aren't getting a good enough connection to the battery.

Dead starter. Hit with a hammer while someone turns key or replace the starter. Also check to make sure the wires going to the starter are not corroded.

Try unplugging the chime module. If it shorts out, the car won't start, so that could be your issue.

Ok, my friend towed it and got it fixed today. It was only 25 for whatever the problem was. I will find out what it was when I pick it up later, and let everyone know what it was. Thanks for the suggestions.

Okay, got the car back and it runs much better than before. Turns out, the positive battery cable was badly corroded. He found it when he removed the plastic covering on the cable. It looked fine where it connects to the battery, but the rest of the cable was corroded. But that was it. He replaced the cable, and the car runs great. Thanks for your help everyone.
