I have whittled my audio setup to two brands: Alpine and Elemental Designs. Below are the packages for both:
Elemental Designs: $465
Nine.1 Subwoofer Amp
11Kv.2 Dual 2 Ohm Sub
Alpine: $268
V-Power 600W Subwoofer Amp (Mono)
Alpine SWR-1042D - Dual Voice Coil, 4 Ohm
I'm really tempted to give eD a try, but I can't beat the price I'm getting for the Alpine stuff. Is there a CLEAR difference between the two, or is it all brand name marketing?
you don't need a nine.1 to power an 11kv.2... that's way too much power.
you can get a nine.2 and an 11kv.2 for $280. If the nine.2 was on the forum discount page you could get it even cheaper but for some reason it's not on there.
I would prolly go ED over Alpine, Everyone does alpine it's a great product but their amps I think are a slight bit over rated, The type r is a nice sub, I just got rid of my type r's for a pair of cerwin vega's I wanted something different that not everyone has. Not everyone has the ED's a friend of mine had a wall of ED subs and it was absolutely crazy.

Like 02Cavy said....noooo need for a nine.1 on a single 11kv2, even at 2 ohm, its 900-1000 watts. Just way too much.
The nine.2 and 11kv2 is a good match, we are currently out on nine.2's. But I do have one hidden. Its brand new, just was shipped to a guy, and he decided to upgrade into a nine.2x.
If you are interested in the nine.2, please send me a pm, or shoot me an email at alexl@edesignaudio.com
Either way you cant go wrong with the alpine setup, or the eD setup.
One other thing to consider, after January 31st, the forum pricing is gone. So if anyone is looking into a nine.1, now is the time, as that will increase $50 in price with no FD.
Thanks guys.

I have a nine.1 and a set of 13Ov.2s in a 3ft^3 ported box tuned to 30 hertz and it sounds amazing. I'd take them over my friend's alpine system anyday

I wasn't aware of the forum pricing, but I won't be buying until March when I get my bonus from work. I wasn't aware that the Nine.1 would be too powerful, I'm glad I asked. I'll go with the Nine.2 for the Sub then, but I'm still looking at $215 for the amp and $115 for the sub.
In the end, I believe it's going to be the customer experience that converts me, and from what I've seen (forum pricing, end user support) I'll be using eD. Sure the Type Rs are great, but I've been won over by the extensive help I've gotten, both here and on the eD forums. Thanks for the help, I'll be in touch, Alex.
Well thank you for the kind words and you can contact me directly.

I've been planning on making the trip up, just been very busy lately. I'll get up there one of these days.
Who was the guy who moved up? Anybody that was in the industry here in KC?
Mike Roth
His name is JJ or Justin Jones. He drove a red Mustang with a fancy hood and cobra wheels.
He used to work for Martin Logan, a real high end HT company.

You humor me.
I'm an alpine whore and I love um but I will say that eD is an awesome company with some awesome stuff.
I say it's a toss up, lol.

As I said, it's going to be the end-user support and eD is really coming through with that. Forum pricings and quick, competent user support is the best way to serve a customer. Alpine would have the industry in a stranglehold if they could wrap their heads around it. It's everything I'm studying in Marketing Communication. Keep up the good work guys
