CDT 6.5
Monday, January 22, 2007 3:41 PM
Hey,

I was hopping to get some new speakers for my car and was looking at http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=5207
Does anyone have any experiences/opinions with these speakers or similar ones?
Also I'm a little worried about the speaker getting in the way of the window? will this happen with these speakers? whats the easiest work around?
Also where did everyone mount their crossovers and tweeters? pics would be nice!!!

I believe many people have those speakers, a friend of mine did in his cav, they should fit no problem.

you want to bump, then they will bump and hit real hard and a lot good.

I have CDT components and all that is needed is a 3/4" thick adapter plate for the doors. Frenched the tweets in the lower trim/kick panel.

Replacing a craptacular Verge amp hopefully tomorrow if weather permits with a Kicker ZX200.2 I bought today. I like the silk tweeters not putting out a harsh tinny sound. I've got some streetedge tweeters mounted on my dash corners that I keep faded low as well, just enough to give a little more upfront presence. This was my first set of components so I can't compare them to anything else, but I've been pleased with them and it seems like money well spent to me.

Someone pointed out the eDi 6000 v2 could be had for roughly the same price. As I was looking through specs I noticed that the mounting depth was 2.95" will this cause problems? Has anyone installed these in front, and what was involved is it still just adapters?

How does everyone feel about these compared to what I was looking at (CDT CL-S60A)

MY CL62i's mount at about 2 7/8th's and the fit is tight, so those should be fine.

I guess .075" won't make much of a difference. Did you use 3/4"?
I would still like to know if someone has done this.

I used plastic mounting brackets for 6.5's with a wee bit of custom work (risers to keep it off the window by about 1/4 inch +, and completely sealed and covered the hwole thing in eDead.

those CDTs are amazing, and honestly, a phenomenal deal, normaly with the lower end tweeters you are spending 140, so get that deal while they are there, they are bound to sell out soon. its just clearance on their 06 stuff

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

I just bought a 20 inch widescreen ultrasharp flat pannel..I'm going to have to subscribe to the high quality porn places now......damn

i love my cdt's....

but the depth does make for a tight fit. i think we ended up using 3 back to back pieces of .75 mdf to make a spacer. some of the door panel had to be trimmed away as well.

Steve C, no I did not end up ordering, something came up and it has used up any money I had saved up for a system.
I'm hoping that I'll get some stuff for my birthday though.
Anyways nice score for you! Let me know what you think of them once you get it all set up.

I just got them today but its dark out now so i just hooked one side to the amp giving it 60watts and my ears are ringing. I had the switch on +3 db and i thought i was going to go deaf. They are very smooth sounding and handle the power well. Im going to install them tommrow morning. and ill put some pics up.

Nice,
since you got an upgrade I went ahead and ordered mine (thats what credit cards are for right?), but I didn't get an upgrade , oh well I'm sure I'll be happy with them when they get here and all hooked up.
I just need to find a cheap amp now, was thinking like a Kicker KX350.4 any suggestions would like to keep it under $100

i am using the eclipse ea2000 i got mine for $93 after tax at circuit city. it was a orginal 199 then it was marked down to 129.99 mine was one that had been open and screwed to there display board(never powered up). its nice and it has 60watts at 4 ohms. but if you have the tw-25 tweeters you need a 1 7/8" hole saw so make a nice clean cut. im still working on the pics my camera batteries are dead and i cant find the charger.

I was thinking more along the lines of a four channel amp, since I plan on doing something with the rear speakers,... eventually.

So since my CDT 6.5" components are on the way, I've decided I want to get a sub as well but nothing too large since I keep a bunch of crap in my trunk.
So I was thinking either an eD 7K.v2 or a 9Kv.2 and putting it in a .3cF sealed box.
So I need power and was thinking of getting a JVC KS-AX6500 but can't find very much useful information on it.

But basically want to run a bridged channel to the sub and then the other two channels to the components.

Does anyone have any opinion on the amp? (JVC KS-AX6500 )

Maybe why you did not get the upgrade is because you ordered the 6.5" and i ordered the 5.25 inch. But i dont own any ED. but thats soon to change I am ordering a 13.kv.2 soon.
Talk to Alex he cant get you a deal. But i would say get the 9.kv.2 i think they have the same rms rating but more cone area with the 9.kv.2.
If your talking informatin such as power ratings its:
Details:

The JVC KS-AX6500 is a bridgeable 4-channel power amplifier with continuous

power (RMS) of 70W/channel. Maximum Power Output is 560 Watts. It uses a forced

air cooling for more efficient operation. It is one of JVC's new line of DOHC amps that

combines compact size & high power. A top mounted control panel with blue

illumination makes everything easy to adjust.

Features:

* Pure Class-A Circuit *
* Speaker Input Terminal, Balanced Input *
* 4CH: 70 watts continous power per channel into 4 ohms. 20-20kHz at no more

than 0.8% THD (rear/front) *
* 4 channel operation *
* Bridgeable 4 channel amplifier *
* 2 ohm stable (2-8 ohm allowable) *
* Variable bass boost *
* Built-in Variable crossover frequency *
