adding speakers ?
Thursday, August 23, 2007 2:19 PM
i bought an 03 malibu and the audio system is am/fm/cd player with 4 speakers. two in driver and passenger doors and two in rear. i just replaced the front speakers with pioneers 4X6s' and later i am putting pioneer 6X9s' in the rear. forgot to mention that it is a 4 door. the back doors have no speakers but i want to add some. probably infinity 6 1/2s'. if i add the rear speakers, how would i go about wiring them in? i have no extra speaker wires from the pioneer head unit. i really dont want to wire them into the rear speakers or the front speakers cause of the power lose. i believe anyway. what should i do? thanks.

Well I know it has been discussed over and over here. If you want to add speakers add more to your front stage, i.e get some kick panels. Also upgrade the 4x6's with either 5.25 or 6.5 depending on space in the door. You can have the 6x9s in the back but I would just get some kicks and get a componet set.

if you are serious about your music, i would just get a well rounded starter system before just tossing in more speakers... Head unit, single 12, low tuned ported box, 6.5 inch comps up front, amps.... simple... better sound staging just focusing on a front stage and a sub. I would have to say just put up a budget on what you are willing to spend on audio equipment, what type of sound and controls you are looking for, and a select few people on here that know what they are talking about are usualy good for suggesting things... as far as speaker choices go, auditioning and picking what your EARS like best is always better than blindly buying an expensive set of comps simple cuz "theyre high end" High end to me might sound like crap to you. 10 dollar speakers might sound like gold to you and like crap to me.

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

^^^^^^ Agreed. Months ago I went with CDT's classic component series and a ED 130v.2 sub and have not felt a need to add anything else since then. Much better sound than throwing as many speakers as you can in a car.
