I've looked around and can't seem to find any 6x9s that mount flush in place of the stockers. I'm wanting to upgrade but not to have to cut through the rear deck. Could someone please suggest some speakers that would work? Thanks.
You can alway mount them from under neither, thats what most of have done.
To tell you the truth I just upgraded to some Kicker KS693's 6x9's. I didn't have to cut the top deck at all to fit them back there. The last owner had some holders for 6x9's that fit perfect in the tabs back there. Hell they could of been stock, but they worked great. The last owner also cut out some of the back deck to make room for the speakers cause most are bigger due to the magnets or the cage. So really I had it easy to do this, and I still did top mount.
Also I got them off ebay for $89.98 shipped. In stores they where $150. So if you want they sound great and the price is just perfect if you ask me. Sound great.

BTW checked the other car out and it is the factory holder for the 6x9's, but you should have to cut out some of the metal around some to get the bigger cage of the new speaker in the hole.
trd did those kickers bump alot more than the stock ones or...
Yea they did... Plus vocals are so much clearer coming from the back are great.

That's exactly what I was looking for. I definitely appreciate the link man.
Infinity kappas fit with no mods they even mount on the stock brackets with included spacers
+ have a neo magnet
^Well mine didn't need need any spacers... I'm sure you wouldn't if you would open the hole a little bit. The spacers could rattle down the road is why I didn't use them instead. The Kickers like I said above fix in the stock brackets.

"Best" depends on a lot of things, but the ones I got are Pioneer TS-A6962R 3-ways. I overpaid at a local shop at about $100, but they can be had for less than half that. They're less than ideal if you're going to be running a lot of amplification, but I love the extra middle-low range they added to my stock system. I paired them with an Infinity Reference component 6.5 set up front, and the difference is amazing even with just the stock deck.

I have infinity 6 by 9's in the rear deck of my car....they did not fit without cutting the deck but the time and effort was worth it and they look good, sound very well too. 6.5's infinty on outer door panels to keep away from the window...
I had infinity references 6x9's in my sunbird.. matched with 3.5's in the front... excellent clear sounding speakers...
I forgot about this thread lol...
Anyways, they were a bit too big to fit just right under the rear deck so I ended up top-mounting 'em. But the grills that come with 'em actually look great on the back deck, I'd definitely reccomend the Kicker KS693 to anyone for appearance and awesome sound.
A big thanks goes to TRD Cav Fire. He wasn't lying when he said they're a big improvement over the stockers, even without an amp.
