Just got my design finished for my Soundstream XXX-15. It is a 6th order series tuned bandpass, that should give me a near flat response from about 30hz to 100hz with efficiency down into the low 20hz region. Hoping to see a high 140/low 150, we will see i guess. now for the design
Build should start on tuesday, anyone want to see build pics??
that looks impressive i would like to see build pics. i've always liked bandpass boxes over anything else.
and which speaker is going in? good work
one of these
That is the pair I own. But I only have one amp, and i need to recone one of them. I ordered a pair of recones from T3 audio, and they should be here in the next few weeks. Then i will swap out the Soundstream one for a T3 one. After i find another XXX-6500D i will be tearing this out and doing a wall with both in it. the hunt for a 155Db daily driver is on!!
very nice cant wait to see the results of this
those a freaking huge
85 pounds a piece! I hate carrying these damn things around lol, I'm just a little guy. Weightlifters as roommates FTW lol.
BTW the design came for Pete Kulicki. The man is a genius, if anyone is interested in getting your own you can contact him at www.hexibase.com, I am a semi-regular over there, great place to learn tons of stuff about advanced audio stuff.
85lbs wow. that reminded me of the mtx jackhammer those are like 360lbs. somthing like that. ill check out his web site. i got my bandpass box from toby speakers. he builds his own from box to speakers. his site is toby.com.
Mtx jackhammer is @!#$ bro sorry to tell ya
So where are you planing to put that box? from the measurements i dont look like it will fit in a j-trunk
it should fit in the J though, just might be peekin in from the trunk
low 150's with a single 15 from the trunk of a cavy? Good luck!!! lol

It would stick out a good 12- 13 inches
I have seen HIGH 140s from a single sub but never in the 150s, not saying that it is impossible just really hard I guess, but that certainly looks like the right sub to do it with lol.
I would be beyond shocked and amazed with a 150. I realize that a high 140 is much more realistic. I am pretty confident that if i can keep my voltage up there is a 147-148 there. As for fitting, i wont have any trunk lid tensioners, and it sticks out about 6 inches or so, the box i have in there now is that length. I decided that since the trunk is now all box that there is no real reason I will need to be able to have my trunk lid stay open anymore so I went ahead and scratched the tension bars to give me a few more inches of height. As for the Jackhammer, i would take one XXX over 2 of those any day lol.
Aren't Jackhammers like horribly inefficient?
There are lots of stories all over about them ranging from worst sub of all time to most amazing. I have heard the MTX demo truck, wasn't amazed but it really wasn't that bad. I think in the right hands they could have some potential, but the price tag just kinda keeps them away from those that could make them do good things.
I want to see build pix!!! That looks pretty awsome.
BTW usually when I have see the jackhammer in person it "sucks" because it is usually under powered. Then again most people can take other subs and make them just as or better then the jackhammer.
It's all in the box, design, voltage (constant), and amps
But seriously you needs to show up progress on this on.
I didn't get to start anything big today becaue I have lame friends that didn't come through like the said they would to help out. Really wasn't his fault but o well. just did a few non-picture worthy small things to get ready for the actual bug. It will begin tomorrow, pics to follow.
