Keyless Remote Trunk Problem
Monday, February 25, 2008 5:09 AM
well i took advantage of the nice weather we were getting this weekend in southern ontario to get started on my amp rack (i'll put pics up when its done). come around to sunday i run into a problem...

i poped my trunk sunday morning and started ripping back the carpet i needed. i was debating on moving my power lock module since where the amp rack is going to be, it wont make getting at it very easy.i pulled the module up (velcro'd down) and try and find a spot to relocate it. i ended up having to close the trunk for some reason and when i went to go use my remote to pop it open again, it wouldnt open.

the lock and unlock feature still work, but the trunk will not pop. this is a problem because the lock cylinder on the trunk is screwed up and i cant unlock it with the key. i crawled in the back of the car from the inside and manually turned the lock and opened the trunk.

i got out my trusty DMM and started probing around at the module...

- so far i have found they the solenoid works. i put 12V to it and the solenoid actuated like it normally would to open the trunk.

- i have ruled out my remote as being the problem as i tried to open the trunk with a second remote and it didnt work either.

- when i hit the trunk release button on the remote, i am not getting 12V on the signal wire that goes to the solenoid on the trunk.

now i have used this info to determine that the problem must be with the module. i was to know if i get a module from the dealership, can i get one that i can still use my old remotes? can i do the same if i get one from the scrap yard? i know i need to program the remotes for the module (i already know how to do that), i just want to make sure that i wont have to replace the remotes as well. do i have to get a specific module or will any of them work in my car as long as its the right year or year range, etc. is there a certain part number, i dont remember seeing one on the module that would make it seem specific to be able to tie in the remotes.

for the mean time, i was planning on putting in the interior trunk release button, so i could pop the trunk open from the interior of the car.

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

does anyone have a pinout or diagram, schematic for the module? or would anyone be able to meter their own working module for me and let me know what wire does what (12V, ground, signal, etc) ?
