help with skipping cd player
Tuesday, March 18, 2008 8:17 AM
I have a 01 cavy, does anyone know if I can get rid of the steel brace behind the cd player or is that a main dash support. Why because I think my rca's might be hitting it and making it skip when I hit really big bumps. The cd player is a newer pioneer model just wondering if that could be the problem. I got rid of my other cd player cause I though that was the problem, but still does not as bad, sure my tires don;t help none either thyr 205 40 17 lol. thks for the help guys

Tires do have a lot to do with skipping even at stock sizes. When I was younger I had an Olds Calais and switched from Michelin to Goodyear and immediately had skipping trouble on the way home.

But you want the cd player mounted as securely as possible so the anti-shock mechanisms in the cd player do their job. I would say use a good quality Metra install kit (in case you have a Scoche one now) that mounts solid, and use the metal back-strap to brace the cd player inside the dash from behind. This would be a good start.

get a good solid kit and make sure the radio cage aka sleeve is on VERY securely. If the cage doesnt move at all that should help a lot....also i noticed on my pioneer that when i play mp3 cd's it NEVER skips....as soon as i pop in a regular music cd it skips on medium to big bumps....try an mp3 cd also.....
