Subwoofers "thumping" w/o any input
Thursday, March 27, 2008 1:27 PM
I'm relatively new to having subs, so I'm not entirely sure what the deal is. Even when I have the stereo off, the subs pulse a low, rhythmic beat. I can't hear it when the music is on. Is is possible that the reason for this is magnetism> Seeing as they are directly below the 6x9s in the back. Any more info anyone needs ask, I'll do my best to supply it....

most likely a bad ground, i had the same problem, now i fixed it but still have a engine whine. Check your ground and make sure it is a clean secure one.

OK. Yeah, the amp is on, but I configured it that way because it's only powering my subs, so I put a switch on the remote wire so I can turn it on/off as I want. Even when the music is going I can hear it though, on low volumes. I'll try to find a better ground- any suggestions? It's in the trunk (duh) of a 2000 cavalier z24. Right now I have it on the hook that the trunk net goes on. I unscrewed it and stuck the wire in there, then re-screwed it... ghetto, sure, but easy. thanks all.

yeah definalty find a different ground, or purchase a ground loop isolater. I tried using one on my car, but it wouldn't even allow my amp to turn on, so i just deal with the whine and pop..... kinda sucks.

sounds like your amp is staying on after you turn off your radio....so hit the switch when you turn the car/radio off....
