drls with hids???

ok so im gonna be upgrading to hids soon and since running drls with hids isnt a good idea, what can i do to still have drls? run leds in my headlights triggered off a remote wire so that when the car comes on the leds come on and stay on till the car is shut off? or is there any way to seperate the factory drl wire from the main harness? some ideas please.. i just want to be different from others with hids.. and the car is a 2002 cavalier.

drls tend to kill the hids for some reason, they overheat or underpower them. idk..lol.. i just know that its not recommended,

ya what happens is they become under powered.... since drl's only draw a set amonunt of power.... and it's not enough power to keep the hids runing so they start to flicker... I'm also looking into this.... I think what i'm going to end up doing is reqwiring the drl wires so that it runs the park lights instead... since here in canada it is illegal to disable DRL's

The Best way to run your hid's with your drl's would be to run a relay harness. what it does is draws the power from the battery directly instead of from the regular wiring harness. it just uses one of the sockets on the harness to go to the relay kit so it allows you to still turn on your lights normally but the only downside on that is that your hid's will be on all the time when in gear and at full brightness unlike the stock drl's

really i see cars around here with out them all the time, most places dont even check them to see if they work during inspections. i may just disable them and run and alternate light or blue leds or something and wire them to a switched source so that when the car is started they are powered. giving me a glow effect in the evening and something to say it still has some sort of drls. do all 9007 conversion kits have hi/low beams? or do i need a dual bulb setup?

For hi/lows, you will need to purchase a bi-xenon hid kit. It will act just like stock. In the low beam position the headlight will be flaccid and point downward mimicking as a low beam. When you turn your high beams on, the headlight will become erect pointing upward mimicking as your high beam. The only downside is that the bi-xenon kit costs more.
