Autometer Gauges lighting ?
Thursday, April 10, 2008 6:15 PM
So I installed my 3 gauges grounded and have ignition (afr, oil pressure, volts) they all work minus the lighting...

I ran all 3 to the orange wire going to the fog light switch and only one out of the 3 light up. all the connections are tight. I dont know why it wont let all 3 light up. All 3 use the same ignition and ground spot .. why wont it work for the lighting..

also wheres the BEST wire for lighting? where can it be found

its brown and you should be able to get it at the kick panel, if not go to the bcm.....

are you running them all to the same line? no relay? maybe it can't handle everything on it at once?

I installed the same setup as you, and the AFR gauge will light up because of the leds it has. The Volt and Oil Pressure are the ones that need to be hooked up on a power source. I used the THICK brown wire coming off of the column. If you take the column covers off u will see the brown wire or you can crawl under the dash and look for the wires coming out of the column. I used a quick splice connector to connect them.

Sorry little late here..But if you want the Gauges to Dim you can use the dimmer wire which is located at the back of your Radio..That way you can dim the gauges along with your stock lighting..

i agree with Jason, use the factory dimmer circuit. one issue, it may dim your lights overall. i've got mine wired that way in my 87 camaro and i've got 4 gauges pulling off the factory setup and overall because its split into more bulbs, they dont get at bright as they originally did

I am using the LED bulbs in my autometer Gauges..But you should not have a major loss over 4 little bulbs..Could be you dimmer control is getting old..or maybe a bad ground.
