Ive checked all fuses and all wiring connections. Just got a new CD Player and everything turns on but no sound. I thought it was the CD player so i got a new one..... no dice. Anybody got any ideas?
does the car you're installing this in have a factory amp? if so, did you wire up the amp turn on? (blue/white wire)
No factory amp. This is my Cavalier im talking about.
cavaliers did come with a factory amp, doesn't hurt to connect it and see.
A 99 cavalier came with a factory amp?!?!?!?
Mmm, not 99. Even so, connect it and see, the worst that could happen is that you'd have to unsolder it later if you want to add your own amp.
Doo eet
Next things to check (in this order)
-------------------
Can you bump the speakers from the harness? (Put the +/- of a battery to the +/- of each speaker very quickly)
Yes?
Make sure that you haven't connected the MUTE or INT or ATT wires (depends on deck)
Check that damn remote wire
No?
Check the speakers, do the same battery test. Do they bump at the speaker?
Yes?
Run new speaker wires up to the deck
No?
Time fo' new speakers
most likely a speaker is grounding out....probably one of the 6x9's check the speaker to see if the line is touching metal. The plastic pieces break all the time from taking stuff in and out of your trunk which would cause the line to touch the speaker....speaker is made of metal and is touching the body of the car which = grounding out........i would check there first.
The last two posts were very helpful. im going to check for grounding issues first. thanks for the help
disconnect all the speakers and hook up one at a time until you find out which one is grounding out, then go from there (ie replace wiring or check its mounting location).
Back speakers where grounded out haha. thanks for the help.
no problem....i knew that was the problem.....very common if you always puttin things in and out of your trunk!
Yeah well....I knew that too...
shut up
