can everyone here that has a 00-05 cavalier post pics of your double din dvd and what you had to do to install it? I am looking the the pioneer avh-p4000dvd and wanted to see how a double din looks in a cav.

I'll try and get pics ASAP. Thats the same deck I have in my car. Only issue I've had(havent fixed it yet) is that where they put the rca's theres bracing in the car. So gonna have to remove the bracing. For mounting I just used side pieces from my single din kit.
What do you think of that deck, there isn't much expansion for amps or anything like that.

good deck id get it, the only prob is having it down there, the screen looks funny because its lcd from certian angles its hazy or has tons of glare during the day
Well i got a Pionner D3 and i have no glare issues at all....i do have tint but i dont think having it low is a problem at all. Just make sure you hook up the dimmer so you don't go blind at night. To get the D3 to fit all the plastic behind the radio had to go to make room. The down side of using a dremel or sawsaz is the vibration makes the LED behind the odometer reading go out. You can still read how many miles the car has but only in the day....kinda sucks but it looks sexy once installed. On with the pics!

I don't have a pioneer but I have an Eclipse Navigation/DVD double din unit in mine. I installed mine by fabricating some metal angle brackets. I don't have problems with glare due to the fact you can angle it up a good 40 degrees. The glare in the pic is the flash. Check out my '05 Cavy at

iildwes: What all did you remove from behind the deck? I removed all of the lower angled piece from the back and my deck still doesnt fit all teh way in. The trim piece is holding the cover out some.
i cut out all the plastic behind the radio that would block the double din. Basically i made a BIG square with a dremel, mind you i have 2 amps so that means 3 RCA'S, plus speaker wire....it was a tight fit but it all fit. Just cut all the plastic that would block the radio from going straight back and you should be good...GL
^^ I cut out everything that was behind the deck. All thats left back there is the main heater box lol HMMMMM

im sure you ISO mounted it in which case you just have to move it back...did you install it?? you gotta take it all back out and remount teh unit to teh kit further back

Your deck is in right, it sticks out because it has a motorized face. The one above has a CD/DVD slot in it.
Your deck has to stick out more to be able to open.
^^^^^not entirely true. i installed my JVC KW-ADV790 in my 03 cav, and its pretty flush. you probably either have too much of a bulk-o-wire, or you missed a bit of cutting. there is A LOT that has to be cut to get these things to fit.

just wondering how that affects the odometer? My odometer did the same thing and i could never figure out why.
