I have a new radio problem that i have never ran into before. Any ideas would be great..
When the car is runing there are no problems what so ever.
When the car is on accessory or run the radio shuts off and restarts if i turn it up past half way. I have never had that problem before. Any idead what it could be?
Perhaps the radio is especially voltage sensitive, or perhaps your battery is getting tired and needs the alternator to properly supply the radio. Voltage tends to be quite a bit lower without the engine running, but too much can cause problems.

Only time I ever had this problem was when I had a POS Sony Xplod head unit. I since upgraded to a Pioneer Premier with no problems whatsoever. Any money its the HU.

check the voltage on the battery when you have the stereo on.
check your ground as well. Sounds like it isn't getting enough voltage.
Well today i polished the valve cover... Thats besides the point but after having my radio on for about 5 minutes i touch the negative terminal on the battery and burn myself... Not good. What gives? Do i have a bad ground somewhere?
check your battery's grounding cable and your amp's ground...

That hot was excessive current draw through your ground. You also might have a short in the battery itself. I agree with most, check the voltage of you battery, and then make sure your ground is good.

Voltage is love at 11.17 with car sitting...
Voltage drop from negative termal to ground was 1.43 volts WOW HIGHT Should be less then .1. Fixed that. Still have a problem with the head unit turing off. I think its time for a new optima red top. Mine is almost 5 years old!
