I am going to add an amp to my highs, i have a rockford 6.5 component set in the doors and eclipse 6x9 4 ways in the back i am gonna put a punch 250 on them. My question is what gauge speaker wire should i use....14, 16, 18...i was thinking about going with 16. is this too big or not big enough
I'd definitely go to the little thicker 16 for anything with more than a couple hundred watts, or with long run distances. No problem with 14 if you have it, but it would be a bit overkill.

anything 12-16 is going to be perfectly fine depending on how much you plan to spend on it.

I ran 12 on everything in my sunfire when I had it.
I got all my stuff from Here... It was relatively cheap, and good quality at the time, I havent been to the site in a while though

doesnt 12 seem a little bit overkill? i mean i know it's not going to be restricted at that size, but wouldnt something like 14 or even 16 do just as well? I mean i'm running 12 to my subs even though i know it's a shorter distance. wouldnt 16 be cheap and adequate?
if you are concerned more about price, go with 14 or 16. You will not have a problem at all. The guy who ran 12 did go overboard. Going too far on wire size is never a bad thing, but it gets pricey when you don't need to do it.
