cd/dvd player issue 2001 cavalier

Ok well, heres my issue lol.

I just got a new cd/dvd player for my 2001 cavalier, got it installed and it runs fine when i have my car in the run/on position.

The problem is when i go to start my car, the player will turn on for a few seconds and then completely lose all power to where i can not turn it back on. Only way to turn it back on is to shut the car off again and put it back to the run/on position without starting the car.

The cdplayer i had in it before this one did the same exact thing for the past 4 months.

the wiring harness i got is the more expensive one with the door chime box and such if that helps at all.

Any help is greatly appreciated because this is very dissapointing and i just need to figure this out. Thanks ahead of time for anyone that may be able to help me. If you need mroe info just say so.

well. the only thing i can suggest is that your module may be going bad.

yea i think it could be the module thing i got for it. as far as more info idk what else to add, the harness and chime modeule kit thing was the gm schosche adapter. idk the exact model number for it, the harness was installed awhile back when i put the old headunit in. it is probably the module though since it controls the ignition wire and so forth.

i had to get a special kit for the door chime thing or it wouldnt work. i would take it to a shop or somewhere and get a kit for it and that should work.

Sounds like your module. The module gives your car an accessory input, sounds like it's going bad. Do you absolutely need chimes in your car? If not, just get an add-a-circuit, hook it up to your wipers, and you're golden.

yea i haven't had a chance to reply to this topic, but i fixedmy problem, i ended up getting rid of the harness all together and went with a metra harness for 88 and up gm rides. worked like a charm, all i had to do was run a dedicated wire from a fusetap to the radio for power. cheaper anyways lol. Plus once those chimes are gone you realize how annoying they were lol.
