Problem with door speaker install
Monday, January 05, 2009 6:25 PM
I have a 2004 Sunfire coupe. I installed new Infinity Reference 6422cf 4 X 6 speakers in the doors. Speakers sound good however, when there is a song with a lot of bass. The doors vibrate and of course it sounds terrible. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what is the cure? I have a Clarrion head unit DUZ385SAT and no amp.

Mine did the same until I wrapped the wires together better and ripped out the loose styrofoam insert. Then I added some expanding foam stuff.

Foam tape worked for my dad's Trailblazer. Just put it along the back mounting plate of the speaker. I dont think expanding foam would be a good idea considering it wont be easy to remove if need be.

i had those same speakers... the door kinda compresses the speaker.. otherwords the the infinity 4x6 is too thick. i just purchased pioneer 4x6 3 ways that actually fit. u can cut plastic around the speaker to clear room, then add dynomat door kit. which is like $19.99 and have that installed.
