It's a shame you have to have things match because there are plenty of high quality amps that will give you the power that thing needs for a lot less than an equivalent kicker amp would.

well I suggested that kicker 1000.1 to 1 12" L7 because I ran that combo for 6 months then sold to go bigger, I loved it I had the box at 2.5 cubic feet 1"mdf tuned to 38htz and most people suggested me having two 15's, mind you I run multiple runs of 0awg and a battery in the trunk but just saying that combo is sweet

I sell kicker. i recommend a kicker zx1500.1 to 1 Kicker L7 solobaric woofer. Thats exactly what kicker recommends for that sub. Must have at least 1/0 gauge wiring. Additional battery is optional.

I just got rid of my L5 for an L7, and I have a Hifonics Brutus 1208D mono block on it and I love it. Very very loud, most people would never guess It's a single 12" woofer. My box is a little under 3 cubic feet with a huge vent.

Ugh the most annoying thing with people that talk about car audio to me is when they associate a sound with the number of subs.

Guy- "wow that's loud, what do you got in there?"
Owner- "2 10's, why?"
Guy- "wow it sounds like 4 15's!"

No... it sounds like 2 good 10's in a properly built box with plenty of power and installing knowledge.... I CAN NOT STAND when people say their system "sounds" like it has more or bigger subs.

But at any rate, my recommendation will always be to buy as much power as you can afford. You can control how much of that power actually goes to your sub, and you never know when you want to upgrade.

lmao then stay out of the car audio game my friend cause you get that everywhere and I cant tell you how many cars I have sat in and even judged at comps and car shows and many times where I have guessed wrong in what they had, one guy had 2 8" subs in a beautiful box and I swore it was at least 2 10's or a single 12

My 1 15 sounds like 9 18's.

Well my 2 15's sound like 1 12. So hah!

No but actually, my friend has a single l5 in a dual ported box that's just about as loud as my 2 15's. Gosh I hate that box. Mine, not his.

There's a thin line to be crossed, when the upgrades to your vehicle increase your chance to get tickets by an amount exponential enough to stop worrying and build the fastest, loudest car you can.

Box does help. Mine isn't near as loud as it probably could be............ I will admit my 1 15 probably sounds like 1 good 12.

yeah... I will stay out of the audio game because I get annoyed at completely asinine comments like "your ten is 2 15's loud"... There is too much that effects sound and output over just cone area, to make that an educated statement. I have a pet peeve for people not being educated and thinking that for something to be "that loud" it has to be "this big" or "this many". I just simply don't make judgments on it honestly. If someone sat me in their car and said "how many subs do you think I have?" I would probably give them a funny look and just ask them to show me, because that guessing game is useless.

It's not a matter of saying you have something you dont, or wanting people to think you have something you dont. All I meant was with the right components, the correct enclosure and power, and a good install a single sub, no matter what size can sound better than multiple subs with 2500 watts thrown to them.

I think the point is that saying that something sounds like a 12 or 15 is a dumb comparison because for example my ghetto ass free Kenwoods from a wrecked car (the surround was glue in several spots). Now saying that it sounded like a 10 isnt accurate. It sounded like a crappy 12 inch Kenwood hooked to a Pyramid amp in a cracked eBay box. Not a 10 or a 15.

It sounds like what it is and nothing else. If you wanna ghetto fab everything from free stuff like I did it will sound like that not a good 10 or a bad 15.

I just it would prove the point that JL was making. They dont sound like two fifteens. They sound like two Soundsplinter 8s.

I'm looking into getting two rl-s 15s if I get my dads Trailblazer.
