I've been looking all over the place and I can't find a 2001 Cavalier stereo wiring diagram. Please, I've been itching to install my new stereo but I need the color code on the factory wiring. Thank you in advance. I'm trying to install an Alpine CDA-9885 radio.
are you splicing into the factory wiring and not using a wiring harness that will just plug in?
Yes, that's exactly what I'm doing. I have a wiring harness, but my stereo came with one also. They don't fit so I figured I'd just get to splicing.
Your best bet would be to go to autozone or another parts store and get a 2000-2002 Metro wiring harness. They are like 5-10 bucks. You will wire the cd player up to that and then plug that into the factory harness. That way you are not messing at all with the factory wiring. Plus if you ever did decide to change head units you can just take out the harness. The only thing you will lose with that harness is the door chimes. Using a harness that plugs into your factory wiring is how most people wire their cd player up.
Well see I the white block off so I'm left with a bunch of colored wires that I don't even know what they're for. I need to find out what they stand for.
Well see I *cut the white block off so I'm left with a bunch of colored wires that I don't even know what they're for. I need to find out what they stand for. I'd appreciate if anyone can get me that info.
Every time I go to the store and see a harness that's supposedly for a Chevy model within my year it is not one that fits with my factory harness. There's nothing that fits. So that's why I decided to splice the wires and wire it directly to the stereo, but now that's becoming a pain because I can't find out what the color code for my car is since GM has apparently burned the library that has that information.
Meh, it's in the same place it's been since Wednesday, March 01, 2006 @ 7:49 PM.
