Theres a bolt on the side of the alt that has a boot on it. Pull the boot back and unbolt the wire. Its red. Attach your new wire with a ring terminal. Run that to pos battery and reattach old wire bolt it back up replace boot. Done.

so instead of 1 will be then 2 cables that will go from the pos+ terminal to the alt ?

just like it says, alternator to battery

it runs from the alt positive lug to the battery positive

No he means the stock wire in addition to the new cable. You need that stock one. Leave it connected.

How many watts?

Im running 1000 watts and I have 4 gauge. I wouldnt go smaller than that. But you cant hurt going any bigger. Its pretty much whatever you can afford.

also dont forget to put a fuse inline with the alt-battery run and either 4 or 1/0 gauges will work just dont go any smaller

0 gauge can sometimes hurt a stock alt.

WRONG. The wire is a path. Make the path as big as you want, I am only using the amount of it that I need.

I suppose hypothetically, if there was a dead short internal to the alternator, AND you failed to install a fuse, having a bigger wire would help your alternator and battery burn faster.

doesnt count, that wouldnt be the wire that is the problem it would be the lack of the fuse.

Yes. Make sure your crimps are tight and everything when you attach and theres enough slack in your wires to keep them from seperating when you rev and that the wires are away from your manifold and other hot or moving things.
