Sub/Amp/Box questions

So as of now I am looking to finish up my sound system with a sub/amp. I am currently looking at this combo amp sub. The sub would be wired to 2 ohms so the amp could put out 500w rms which is what the type r wants. I have heard from numerous people that this would be a good set up and should work with no problems. Any thoughts? I want to put the sub into a sealed box since I do not want to give up my trunk space to go ported. I have seen on Crutchfield that the r requires a .57-1 cubic foot box for sealed. So I was thinking that i should put it into a .75-.85 one because I have heard that if the sub is put into to small of a box with too little power going to it, the sub will not push enough air. So since I would only be running 500 rms to it would i want to go on the larger end of reccomended scale? I also heard of tuning a box to a specific frequency, what exactly is this? I have read that 32-35 hz is good for daily use. The music that I mainly listen to is hard rock/metal, but I also like rap once in a while simply because of the heavy bass is has. So if anyone could help me out with a box size that would be great, I just want to learn as much as I can ahead of time before I rush into building something and having it sound horrible.

Thanks, David

If you're going sealed, go .75 cubes after displacement. So make your box .85 cubes. As far as tuning, that goes with a ported box, and they're much less forgiving than a sealed one.
