Im currently in the market for getting some 1/0 wire. i need enough to run back to the trunk and also do the big 3. so im guessing around 30 ft or so (not sure about this number... do you know how much is needed?). and im willing to spend around 120$ for this. Just want some opinions on the best bang for the buck as well as what is the best wire i can get? I know that pure copper would be ideal but what im finding is like copper clad aluminum or like aluminized copper or nickel copper and so on. Just looking for some guidance on this topic.
Thanks,
Anton Miller

Kicker has really nice wire.
Unless you're into serious competition (in other words, someone else should be buying/sponsoring this for you), any name brand will probably be similar.

DO NOT get the copper clad aluminum. I would use some welding wire. My 1/0 ground, and my run of 3/0 are welding wire and they're fine. My run of 1/0 positive however is "car audio wire" and it has just about the same strand count as my welding wire.
hey anton, i still have my 0 gauge from my Fi setup. I never even used it at all. It is 1/0 welding wire from weldingsupply.com 30 ft of it. I bought it for 67 dollars. I'll let you have it for 60 shipped, or shoot me a PM.

I would look into knukonceptz. I really like there wire.
Just make sure if you get Knu wire, you don't buy the copper clad aluminum stuff. I personally think Kicker hyperflex is very nice stuff. It is super flexible and has a very durable casing. Welding wire will do the same job and be a tiny bit less flexible. Like people have said, any big name out there is going to be similar. Just find one that fits the budget and is not aluminum.

Cant go wrong with Knu. i also personally like kickers wire and also JL's wire
K i just got my High Output alternator in the mail today. is it safe to put it in without upgrading the wires? i really want to put it in but not if ima start the car on fire. and how many feet of cable (approx) will i need to do the big three?
the alternator does 200 amps at max and 100 amps at idle

First. "I'm going to" or even "I'm gunna" sound better than that ghetto "ima" bull@!#$ you just said lol...
Secondly, I wouldn't bother installing it until you can upgrade the wiring.

Ima have to agree with JL.
I have a brand new Kicker kit I can sell you at a good price. It has 20' blue 1/0awg, 3' black 1/0awg, 5' blue 4 awg, 5' black 4 awg, 300amp fuse and holder and 2 distribution blocks. $150
I will also throw in some 1/0 scraps if you want.
If you wanna make offers do it through PMs not on the open forum. Its part of the terms of use. Thanks.

There are some cars where you can do entire amp RUNS with 10 feet. The point of the big three is to keep your wires as big and as short as possible.
Ground to Chassis shouldn't be more than a foot,
neither should engine to chassis
Alternator to Batt+ should only be as long as it needs to be.
I bought 10' for my big 3 and then got mad at myself for buying so much.

On the brightside its always nice to have a little extra miscellanious wire laying around. I have like 8 feet left of what I use for my speakers and Ive been slowly using it for wiring other things like the ground for my head unit. It has a higher thread count than the other 12 gauge I can buy.
well i went to visit my dad this weekend and i was telling him about this big wire i needed to do the alty. and hes said follow me. so i did and he goes into this back shed at his place and busts out 40 feet of 2/0 welding wire. so i got really lucky on this. lol. i only took one roll which was 20 feet. hopefully its enough to do it all.
oh and its not a bad thing to go a little big on the wire right?
