I have been having problems with my amp...its a rockford punch 250..like about 10 years old ish....it just cuts out at random times for just a few seconds like there is a loose connection...i have taken it completely out of the car and opened it up and there is nothing loose or broken in it....and then i reinstalled it making sure that all of the wiring was in securely.....any ideas....im guessing i need a new amp.
Also it seems to do it mainly when you hit a bump in the road....this leads me to believe that something is loose but like i said all of the wiring is in good shape...it has to be something internal with the amp
Could be a cold solder joint.
it's something like i said if your on a smooth road its cool.....i wonder if its overheating possibly too however it dosent look or smell burned anywhere
lol i think the amp is junk. try to bolt it down to somthing so it doesnt move. or maybe thats the problem is that your box walls are too thin and you bolted the amp to it, thus causing too much movment in the amp and a connection failure. its all in the amp if you checked all ground and power leads and remote and all. then its the amp.
does it go into protect mode or does it just shut off?

Anton it just cuts out and then cuts back on after a second or two. and no its not a cold solder joint i checked it again

Do you know what a cold solder joint is?
Refresh my memory.... if you dont mind..
Sure, a cold solder joint is a connection that just barely makes connection, but could wiggle loose, or get hot, or a number of things.
about impossible to locate as well huh.....
Sometimes yes and sometimes no.
double and triple check your wires. more than likely not an overheating issue if it only does it when you hit a bump.
bumps+ system problems= some sorta wiring problem
144db@38hz! It hurts so good !
Its just time for a new amp....im thinking either an eclipse za1200 or xa1200.....

if you think the amp is the issue, go ahead and send it here. I'm sure I could tinker with it and actually get some use out of it
On the other hand....you have other fingers.
