I have checked the sticky's......

Now I know an idea to make my own adapters but is there a certain type of 6 1/2" speakers that have the depth to much? 4X6 speakers just dont seem to cut it. Better to have 2 way, 3 way, or 4 way? Right now I am interested in some Pioneer 4 ways. I am probably going to hook up a 4 channel amp to them along with my 6X9 in the back.. I already have a sub with an Alpine CDA 9855 headunit. I am trying to "relive" my youth and this is a good start I guess.

go with components, go to best buy or an audio shop and listen to a few sets. its really the only way to tell if they sound good to you. like me i like my polk audio db series components, but other will disagree and say they are not good at all.

The Pioneer 4 ways are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too harsh. A good set of 2 ways will do you.

Components consist of a separate tweeter and woofer. Some component woofers are larger than others and will require some cutting in the door to get them through the 4x6 hole. But most will be fine. Just measure the space between the window and the door mounting face then factor in the thickness of your mounting plate. I used 1/2 inch MDF some use 3/4. I had issues getting the 3/4 to fit behind the door panel. Just do your homework on what kind of space you have vs the mounting depth and width of the woofer.

Now for the tweeters. If you have a Sunfire with the tweeters in the door, theyll mount nicely where the stocks do. Otherwise youll have to figure out another place for them.

go with a simple componet set or a 2-way coaxial set. anything more then a 2-way coaxial set is just marketing crap.
