AC switched relay

Ok, so here's what I want to do. 2000 Cavalier, want to wire the AC switch to a relay. I want to turn on two 80mm fans only when the AC is on, so this would need to work when the AC is switched on and in recirculate. Is there any way to do this? Thanks

pull apart the HVAC, there will be a little circuit board that includes stuff for AC and defrost if you have them.

The AC button will have two solder points, it's a basic switch. Probe them both and find out which side always sits at ground and which side is ground only when the AC button is in. Solder onto the point that is only grounded with the button in.

Bam presto!

Ok thanks. Will that work when the AC is switch to recirculate and the button is not pressed?

Not sure about that one. I'm sure there's a wire coming off that board that is on with both, I just can't remember the color.

The way I described would likely not come on with recirc or defrost.

What about getting the 12v at the compressor when the clutch pulls in? Tie off that for the coil on the relay.

The clutch cycles, doesn't it? So the fans would only be on when it cycles. I'm gonna have to look at the wires and maybe run with brads idea. I'm not so lazy I can't push the button. I just figured since the light comes on in both recirculate and when pushed there got to be a trigger somewhere I could tie into. I post it if I figure it out. Thanks

What's the aim of your game?

Your car may do 13 sec @ 103 mph, but my car does 146db @ 35 hz.
