I know it's probably been asked numerous times. But I am looking into getting 2 15" subwoofers, if my trunk allows me.
I am looking at these....
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_25529_PowerBass+PB-C156Dv.2.html
Now for the price and the sound, should I do two of these or just get one for the price of the two?
Which setup will be the loudest?
And will a dual 15" ported box fit in the trunk or will I have to settle for one?
Thanks for any responses, I will be looking to buy within the next two months.

honestly, all you need is one 12. every one thinks you need more and more to get loud or sound good, all you really need is three speakers, a set of components and 1 sub.
click sig for my car audio videos
honestly i know its a good price and all but i think you would be much happier if you saved up and got something better its a cheap sub so its probley gonna sound like ass
I never had high dollar subs and I have always been happy with what I had. For example..
2 12" Super Blues
2 12" Pioneer IMPP (old style)
2 12" MTX Road Thunder
1 12" Pioneer Comp
2 12" Memphis Reference
2 10" Kicker CVR
They all sounded good, so I am just going to stick around those price ranges. I just want some opinions on the ones I listed or any others. But yes saving up for something better woudl be better but that also comes with high dollar amps which I refuse to buy.
I have only used two amplifiers with all these setups and have gotten great results. I had a 800 watt Boss Audio from a Pawn Shop that would never fail. I also had a 2000 watt Legacy.
I don't really care about how good and crisp they sound I just like them to be loud when I want them to be and out of all my previous setups, each one of them was.

you dont need to buy top dollar subs you can easily get a mid level sub and amp for around $500 and they should be louder and sound a lot better then any of your previous subs
i didnt read what others put...
but all i wanted to say is dont cheap out on audio u will only be disapointed
if u have to wait for next pay to get what u really want . it will be worth it in the end.
What is your goal dude? Just getting stupid loud, or having a good well rounded sound setup? If you are just tossing subs in, save up, get a quality 12 or 15, have a quality ported box built, and get an amp big enough to power it. Honestly, good isn't cheap and cheap usually isn't good. BUT, with your "I've always been happy with my cheap stuff" comment, let me say this.... and I seem to say it a lot, some people here can vouch lol,.... bad will sound good until you hear better. Remember that.

Lol, that is true. I just heard my buddies Kicker L7 and yeah that is louder and deeper than my previous setups. But yeah I just want it to be stupid loud maybe do some competing.

It all is going to be dependent on your budget man. If just plain stupid loud is your thing, I will be humble enough to admit, I'm not your guy. When you want to step into high end, high quality, great SOUNDING equipment, I will talk for days. For the loud street beaters and competition stuff, I'm not your man. HOWEVER I do see some good results from Fi, and also look into getting a custom built sub from someone like Team PSI. Stay very far away from RD Audio and Incriminator Audio. Not because they don't make good products(they MIGHT), but because of MAJOR PR and CS issues they have had.

Thinking about 2 12" Alpine Type R's. Sealed or ported? What would be a decent amp for on a budget. I was thinking HiFonics amp.

So after fair amount of research on another forum and my personal opinion. I have decided to go home-made ported box. 2 12's Kicker CVR's with a Crunch 1400 watt amp.

Cvrs and crunch? Sound quality, @!#$ sound quality! I got a cheap power hungry amp and boomy noises!

Ok, you think W1's would sound better? What would you buy if you had $200 to spend on 2 12's?

Dead set on the $100 each range? Here are some that I know sound awesome for their low prices:
JL Audio W0(yes the single coil ones that came before the W1), The W1, and you might even be able to find used W3v2's in that range.
Image Dynamics CTX124 is another amazing $100ish performer.
Alpine Type-R's can be found used in that price range easily.
I mean... yes... you have WAY more, and better sounding subs available in that low price range than just Kicker.

Yeah, I used to have a 8W0, it sounded nice. So you say there better than the W1's? Image Dynamics? What would have the deepest bass out of JL and ID? And than what's your suggestion on an amp choice for $100-$150?

in the $100 each price range, I would give those new ID's a try, but if you want me to recommend something that I know will get loud and sound decent for an entry level sub, the new W0 or W1 should do you fine. MAKE SURE you match your coil configuration to get the best output of the amp you chose.

Thanks man.

Almost forgot.... you wanted amp suggestions. Like I said, coil config will factor in, so here's a theoretical plan:
You get a pair of the new 4 ohm single coil W0's. That will give you 2 ohms total at the lowest.
So you want a mono amp that puts outs 600+/- watts RMS.
To find good, reliable power at 2ohms at $150 or less is going to be tough to find without buying used(which is not a bad thing!)
