well dispite like what javis hildebrand is saying that there are other posts with same issues
you need a geo tracker with similar year wireing harness and the gm schoshe bracket for mounting it in the orginal spot and i dont know if you will have to but my aftermarket radio was too long so i had to cut out part of my dash in the back for it to work.

Corey this topic has been discussed and there is a huuuuge sticky written by Lenko that is very indepth. Literally he tells you how to do it.

To the OP yes you can pull the stereo and put the aftermarket in with no problem. The best way is to get a harness adapter and soldier them together. There are 2 different adapters for the 3rd Gen vehicles. One with a chime module and one without. The one with chimes can run $100+ so most people just use the one without. That is a personal option. Here is the link for the one with chimes that took me 2 seconds to find with google http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=GMOS-01.

All you need is the harness of your choice and the GM mounting bracket.

Again all this stuff is discussed in detail in Lenko's sticky.

Here's a link to Lenko's article since it is kinda hidden and difficult to find.
