Thats pretty sweet. Where did you get the new battery at?
starter isnt really meant to be held cranking for more than 15 seconds spurts, poor bastard got run hard lol
You could have cooked an egg off that starter I bet. I impressed it went 2 mins.
with the tray it is 14 lbs the cca is 850
I think the 850 is just cranking amps. I was looking into the same battery. CA and CCA are not the same....
I wish I could run one of these small batteries. But Living where I do wont allow it. Good job.
***Cranking amps are the numbers of amperes a lead-acid battery at 32 degrees F (0 degrees C) can deliver for 30 seconds and maintain at least 1.2 volts per cell (7.2 volts for a 12 volt battery).
In other words, CA/cranking amps determine how much power you have to start your car in most climates. The basic job of a battery is to start an engine; it must crank, or rotate the crankshaft while at the same time maintain sufficient voltage to activate the ignition system until the engine fires and maintains rotation. This requirement involves a high discharge rate in amperes for a short period of time.
Since it is more difficult for a battery to deliver power when it is cold, and since the engine requires more power to turn over when it is cold, the Cold Cranking rating is defined as: The number of amperes a lead-acid battery at 0 degrees F (-17.8 degrees C) can deliver for 30 seconds and maintain at least 1.2 volts per cell (7.2 volts for a 12-volt battery).
In other words, CCA/cold cranking amps determine how much power you have to start your car on cold winter mornings.

Seems kind of pointless...

it would to you because you have NO idea what i am trying to achieve. its not pointless for too reason....one its reduces weight......2 it gives me room to add more capacity to my heat exchanger coolant without moving the battery into the trunk.
is there anyway to tell cca from ca?
Yes.... it will say it on the battery

oh, trust us, we know
not bad....i was looking into something like this but with me moving the battery to the trunk not sure if the weight transfer being in the rear would really change things
RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...
Don't let this battery get to dawn down. The plates are very thin if it is only 20 Amp Hours. I'm sure it works great if you keep it maintained.

dawn down?
Ive had it in a few days now. sat for a full 36 hours with my ipod plugged in, and fired right up. still quicker then my Optima used to. So I am pretty sure it will be good for me. If it turns out to be a dud later on down the line, there are not perm mods done to the car to make it work, so I will get a new red top and call it a day.
It should last for a long time, but if you accidentally kill it, and need a jump. It will do a lot of damage to this battery since the plates are so thin. Unlike most other batteries that use LARGER AND THICKER plates. I'm confident it will last perfectly fine as long as you do not drain it enough to not start the car.

I'm looking into doing the same swap. Do you think there's enough room for 2 and then wire them in parallel or would 2 be overkill?
I'm surprised you can "Hear the difference" of a 750ca Optima to a 850ca. But yeah. Ummmm nice battery.
