Safe to disconnect. They're sensor wires, not live.
the pin is what kills the car if you remote start it with the hood up... it wont start. keeps it from accidentally starting while being worked on.

I figured thats what it was for. Funny thing is out of curiosity i hit the button and it still started with the hood up.
could also be a part of a security system...check the trunk for another one...
