Hello all Happy Thanksgiving I have a 2000 Z24 with 88k and a OBX header and a cat back of unknown origin, and I'm looking at buying a GM sc kit to install and I'm also going to install the secret cams at the same time.
1. Do I need to install larger than 310cc injectors like say Ford red, brown or green tops and if so what affect will that have on the GM reflash? Will it cause the car to run rich?
2. Do I need to get the Walbro 255lph@60psi fuel pump and and adjustable fpr?
3. What size and how much boost does the stock pulley make and what are the upgrade options, 2.7" & 2.6" seem to be popular, how much boost do they make?
4. If I install one of the smaller pullies how does that affect the tune with the GM reflash? Will this cause any problems?
5. Will the charger with 2.6" pulley, secret cams, header & exhaust get me 200 whp?
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give, also I'm currently building a 2.3/2.4 hybrid turbo motor but the machine shop I use probably won't have that done till near the end of 2007 ( they're putting the finishing touches on my Procharged 383 that they started on in Aug of 2005). And I'm looking for more power and fun now until my turbo motor is done.
2000 Z24 5spd header & catback for now.
If you use the stock 2.8 pulley the 310cc are ok. If you go with a smaller pulley it would be a good idea to go with bigger injectors. I am not sure exactly what size though.
No fuel pump uprgrade needed.
The boost all depends on the moter. As an estimate
2.8=5psi
2.7=7psi
2.6=9psi
They make a 2.5 inch pulley but it is not a good idea because it spins the sc past it's rated limit and the benefit is very minimal do to the addded heat from spinning the sc so fast. If you go lower than a 2.8 meth water injection is highly reccomened to cool the charge of air.
The gm reflash is useless with smaller pulleys. It is junk anyway. HP tuners is a tremendous help. I am using a hp tuners modified version of the gm reflash and getting great results.
It will get you way over 200 if you have it tuned with hp tuners. My 2002 z24 supercharged dynoed at 214whp with only a 56mm throttle body, custom cold air intake, and tuned with hp tuners. By the way I still have a completly stock exhaust and stock internals. That was with the stock size (2.8) pulley.
DO NOT GET THE GM REFLASH! YOU WILL GET BETTER PERFORMANCE FROM HAVING IT TUNED WITH HP TUNERS AND IT IS CHEAPER.
If you have any more ?s I would be glad to help just ask.
FORGET GIRLS GONE WILD WE HAVE GOVERNMENT SPENDING GONE WILD!
Cool thanks guys I was planning on getting the HP Tuners anyway for when my turbo 2.3/2.4 ( 086 HO head, HO intake & oilpump with a forged built 2.4 bottomend) is finished so I guess I'll just be getting it sonner than I thought.
