hey guys,
i was just wondering if some of you could tell what size "orfice hole" i should run for my turbonetics turbo? the turbo is a T3/T04E 57 trim with a stage 3 wheel. i spent some time trying to find some discussions on what size orfice's guys are running. i am a little oil out of the comressor on the turbo when i rev the engine and getting some smoke under boost. When i disconnect the charge pipe i get nothing so im pretty sure this is my problem. i didnt buy a restrictor right away cause i had read on here that sometime a restrictor isnt needed if the return line is big enough and i am running a 3/4" return line. like i said though i think there is some oil getting past the seals as it is. one last thing: im have heard that sometimes different turbo brands call for different orfice sizes so like i said im running a Turbonetics T3/T4. i am thinking that most of them require the same size restrictor if they are the same size turbo such as the T3/T4 would require the same size. so far from what i have found by discussions online, i need to go with a .060" i need to get this done before the seals are ruined but i also dont want to get one too small and @!#$ up my bearings......any help with this would be great guys thank.
p.s. Car is running great, it will literally break the tires loose at 50 mph under full throttle at 15 pounds of boost. thanks again guys......
get a inline oil restrictor from atpturbo.com

You have a 2.4 I see. Just like every turbo 2.4, if you dont do something about the crankcase breather system or run the 2.3 intake manifold, you are actually boosting your crankcase at however much boost your running. That in itself will try and force oil back up into the oil return and blow seals. Happened to me on my first turbo 2.4. There is a little hole in the head that sees manifold vaccum/boost. When you put on the 2.3 intake mani, it blocks that hole, no longer letting it boost the crankcase.

ok so what are guys doing to fix the problem and still run the 2.4 intake? i really dont want to swap to the 2.3 because i would have to redo my charge pipes. now is this an issue with the intake itself that require modification or is it with that breather system thats behind the intake on the front of the block? please help me out here guys...

So that little hole is really tiny on the front side of the head right? Just wanna make sure im thinking of the right one you are.. So my 2.3 Intake blocks that hole? I think im understanding lol.

just block off the line from the intake to the crankcase, make sure it cant leak. i stuck a large bolt in the nipple and put a clamp on it. run the connections from the motor to a catch can. you want to make sure NOT to boost the crank case that will screw up all sorts of stuff BAD! also make sure your EVAP and HVAC vac connections arent seeing boost. use a check valve on those.

What size oil feed line are you running? I went too big on this last season (should've run an 1/8" line). Put the ATP restrictor in (same that Phil's using) and that took care of that problem.
im using a -3AN line from turbonetics.......i dont have the lines from the crankcase blocked off yet. my brother had his first child yesterday so ive been doing the family thing. thanks for all your help guys...
I am using an inline one from atpturbo. I do not know what size the hole is.
Can we please get some more details on this crankcase breather thing. I am boosted on an otherwise completly stock 2.4.
