supercharger not boosting

Ok guys Heres the story I just put a new engine in my car before it blew up I was boosting wonderfully average 4 to 5 pounds depending on temp outside. Now for some reason I cant get any boost at all I have tried everything I know to try and searched so much its pathetic, The supercharger still sounds like it is boosting but my gauge never goes above 0 and it doesnt feel as fast. My acculator was taken off and the reinstalled (not completely off we just took the 2 bolts out then reinstalled them) I know the is very crucial adjustment on the acculator but I would think if it was out of adjustment I wouldnt lose all of my boost. Let me know what I should start checking I really want it fixed if I cant pretty soon Im going back N/A to prevent damage to my engine.

take the acuator off, to close the bypass valve, and see what you get then, also, did you change anyrthing? 9 times out of 10 the problem is human error....... vac line broken? hising noise?

Well I sprayed starting fluid all around any vacuum lines to make the engine idle up if any leaks and there werent any I looked up the diagram at work for the supercharger vacuum ( I work at dealership) and everything is right I will try to take the acculator off and see what happens do I just take the 2 bolts out and then what else do I do to remove the acculator safely?

does your vacuum/boost gauge even work ? maybe there is a kink in the line under boost

id look over it first

also make sure its connected in the right spot

I said in my very first sentence of my very first post " i tried everything i know to try" trust me checking my boost gauge was first on the list

well if all is right, taking the vac line off of the acuator will make it stay closed.......

what do the rotors sound like?

well I unhooked the vacuum line to the accuator and it didnt change anything. Just to be completely honost the rotors sound pretty bad I have just been trying to avoid the thought that its the problem, what should I do consider a rebuild or should I just go back N/A

Have access to a scan tool? Try driving around with it hooked up and read your MAP, see if it's actually creating any boost.

What would the rotors sound like if they are bad? Also if they were bad would this cause low boost numbers? I too am trying to figure out why my boost numbers suck and have ordered the actuator valve. How do the rotors go bad?

noisy all the time, "clicking" noise.....

so, with the car running, when you un hooked the vac line, you didn’t see the actuator swing shut?

it may be stuck open...... IE no boost will build. ( or very little. maybe 101 KPA)

No the accuator arm did not move at all when I unhooked the vacuum line. I wonder if I should try to move it manually and spray it with some lube, it may have gotten stuck where it set in my shed for like 6 months

I had a simular problem, all of a sudden, one day less power and no boost.

could not find or see any problem until I removed the supercharger, then I found this;

While mounted I could not see the gap between the diaphram and the mounting bracket. The waste gate was stuck open venting boost. Seems the plastic mounting pins can work their way free.

Once fixed, boost and power were back.

I brought my little flexy mirror home from work, I'm gonna go check mine later, see if it looks like that.

So what was wrong exactly? Sounds like the problem I am having. How did you solve it? Did you buy a new actuator?

Fill me in I need help quick!

ok this is crazy, I think I have the same issue. I am still only seeing 2.5 psi on the stock pulley and after seeing that pic I was beginning to think that my MAP sensor (since I used the 99 one) was installed in a way that blocks the functionality of the bypass valve. I dont know if Im right, but I gonna check tomorrow?

Does anyone know if you can move the bypass with your hand, if so how do you do it (for example, do you push the black part with the sticker down or up to close?)

If your not seeing any boost at all there are many things you can check or do:

re-torque your sc
make sure the evaporative canister hose is not touching the sc belt (after all it is a vacuum line and the belt will cut a hole in it after about a minute)

in all honesty, if its whining I would assume its creating boost. I highly doubt that the rotors

Tascetch z24, what did you mean by hissing? Whenever I start my car in the morning, It hisses like no tomorrow, seriously. This happened as soon as i got the sc, is that my bypass?

if I unplug the hose going to the throttle body from the bypass (in order to make the bypass close) and then go at it at WOT, could that do any damage?

Sorry took a day off,

I just suddenly noticed a serious lack of power and no boost on the gauge.

Once I took the S/C off I noticed the valve in the open position. I could move it by hand, but as you can see in the pic, the diaphram was seperate from the mounting bracket.

Since the plastic mounting pins have very little crip and had worked their way free, I used some Loctite epoxy from Lowes. (Covered the entire bracket to diaphram faces) The pins easily slid back into the bracket holes and I let everything dry for a few days. 8-10 PSI boost showed up on my auto meter gauge and has been running great since.

I saved replacing the diaphram until I send in the S/C to be rebuilt in the next few months.

Wow, thats good news, I would love to see 8 psi. I am pulling mine sometime this week as soon as I gat my new bypass. I gope mine will change when I put on the new bypass.

What about setting the thing, did you have any trouble? Was it out of adjustment?

I got lucky and only the mounting seperated, all the setting bolts were still secure. Once I provided a secure mounting via Loctite it was still at the factory setting.

Even though it is running great at the moment, I plan to ship the S/C to Stiegemeier to be rebuilt and ported. They have done many S/C and may know how to adjust a new diaphram better than I. You could give them a call and ask for advice doing it yourself?

Can you keep us posted on how it goes for you? Sounds like there are a few of us needing to do this.
