I would like to get opinions on the reliability of the GM Supercharger on a 2000 2.4L with an auto trans. With my job i travel 2-3 weekends a month out of town, but no more than 5-6 hours away so reliability is a big issue. I have already had to have the engine replaced once due to a spun rod bearing which lead to a broken rod and it only had 57,000 miles on it. Is the bottom end strong enough for this S/C? just answer the question, if ur going to take the time to tell him that much u might as well go ahead and answer thequestion..after all thats why were here !

Butyes the s/c is very reeliable..its a great add to get a lil bit more up and go out of ur 2.4 (i have one) . And its not like ur going to be in boost all the time, You can drive it like u do everyday and probly wont get in boost so its not going to be a big diff on the motot, So i would say it would be 100% ok to go ahead and get it , u will love the power that u get from it whenever u want it

why cause stupid people dont use it , or use it properly

and common sense would say GM , and FORD used eaton style superchargers for a reason , THEY WORK AND LAST A LONG TIME

ive heard of some cars that have run the s/c for about 100,000 miles and it was just fine.

I'm at 60,000km with my charger (160,000 on the car/engine) and not even the slightest hiccup from the car. Charger itself is worn, but still makes decent amounts of boost, enough to make me smile!
