Looks a bit like the kit im selling, for less, WITH an FMU
Id hit it, might consider welded charge pipes as an upgrade in the future, otherwise, not too bad.
sure its ebay stuff, and not top name brand, but nothing that cant be upgraded if it failed... and im sure its nothing that would fail right away or anything.
Is that a cast iron manifold?
"Are you sure your A/F ratio is correct? That hole in your Block custom?"
Looks like it might be, but it could be a coating of some kind...
I have been looking at this kit too, just worried about something I spend 900+ dollars on, and have it destroy my engine.. would be more or less paying somebody to shoot yourself.
Maybe if somebody had this kit on there car and it worked for at least a year I would be interested.
Come on man, none of those things are brand names.
Its going to be a waste of money.
the only problem with buying non-named brand turbo's is that they make not all be balanced. when you buy a name brand they are computer balanced to ensure quality and performance. it may not harm your engine, but it may not work very well.

Ive been told that ^ and that the non balanced turbo will need a rebuild sooner, and at that point you can get it "name branded" and get the good stuff put in it, which ends up being cheaper in the long run, because you spend less on the initial setup, and im sure that the cost of a $200 ebay turbo plus a rebuild will be lower than a new name brand turbo...
I might be wrong but thats what ive heard from a bunch of people.
It's junk. Why would anyone buy a turbo kit without knowing what compressor wheel you are putting on your car?
fortune cookie say: better a delay than a disaster
But finding a rebuild might be a problem. i have to agree with OHV, it's junk. spend the money and get something that you know will last. such as a garret or even a turbonetics.

I would say there are good parts in the kit:
Godspeed intercooler
Cast turbo log mani
If those are worth $900+ go for it....
the rest of the kit sux.
umm,,,,,,, for all the nesecarry items to go from na to turbo that are NOT in it.......and those pipes look like you are going to have to cut/fab yourself.....I wouldn't bother
IMO, just pay more and get a kit from a reputable company. you will be happier in the end

thats the biggest load of BS i've ever heard. whoever told you that should be shot.
you ever see what happens when turbos go awry? housings get split, chunks of compressor wheel get sucked up by the engine, filings get into oil, all sorts of bad things happen. WHEN that turbo needs a rebuild, it'll be a 50/50 shot whether it CAN be rebuilt depending on the failure.
the nicklendime mentality here needs to stop. if you guys can't afford to properly turbo charge your cars with components that will actually last, you shouldn't bother. yea it isn't that expensive to rebuild a turbo if you find somewhere who can actually do it, but its a lot more expensive to rebuild a blown engine because of the crappy components bolted onto it off of ebay.
ebay + searching for turbo parts/kits = A BIG HELL NO.. FOREVER
Wow. Does anyone go outside of this forum to collect facts? People on the Honda forum's have been running these turbo's for a long time, YEARS. Many of them have had very little issues with these turbo's. There will always be someone who claims " the nut came off the end of the shaft" or "the exhaust housing cracked" and this may have happened, but regardless of where you buy your turbo this can happen.
First of all, most turbo's Ebay or not, are balanced to within .010 inch grams on a double plane dynamic balancing machine, and most are CHRA balanced as well. Second, it costs at the bear minimum $130.00 to rebuild a "brand name" plain journal turbo, this includes bearing's seals and balancing. I know, I just had one rebuilt that lasted 50km and has several upgrades costing over $700.00 originally. You don't even want to know how much a replacement CHRA is for a Ball Bearing turbo. However, If you really want to ensure the turbo has been balanced ask the vendor.
If you have VERY LITTLE EXPERIENCE with turbo's or forced induction set-up's, than an Ebay turbo kit is what you SHOULD buy. It makes more sense to learn through trial and error on a $200.00 dollar turbo than a $700.00. Too much oil pressure, poor drain pipe configuration, excessive crankcase pressures, (only to name a few) all lead to issues with your turbo, regardless of the cost.
Performance wise, if your not trying to make over 300hp and you have a limited budget, give an Ebay turbo or turbo kit a shot. If your not satisfied with sub 300hp numbers, you may want to purchase a set-up that is tried tested and true it will cost more than $900.00. There are a couple of vendors who have excellent turbo kits available, Hahn performance being one of the leaders in this field.
Whatever you chose to do, have fun doing it
