95 2200 cavy turbo

Ok, I have a few questions,

I have been saving up, and doing some research as far as boosting my car, the only thing that held me back last year was the fact that my engine had 250,000k on it. Now this spring I swapped in the same engine but with 43,000k (totalled car from a buddies private junk yard)
Regardless I am not in the position to either start building a custom turbo kit, or purchase a ebay kit and upgrade from there. Now the question I have is, what sort of common issues have you guys dealt with in the past with these engines and boost? Injector upgrades? ECU upgrades or flash? What about timing? I know nothing I do or ask will allow me to predict the issues I'm going to run into during this build, but I would rather head into this with a few things to look out for, or prepare for ahead of time.

Thanks guys

Is it a 95 2.2 motor, or a 98+ 2200 motor?

The injectors were different, and the better motor to have would be the 98+ 2200 motor.

It is MUCH harder to run a turbo on the 95-97 2.2 motors.

You need a way to get more fuel.
You need a way to connect the turbo... oil, coolant, fresh air, and exhaust.
You really want a way to decrease timing as boost increases.

I think, what you're asking is not "what have you dealt with" but "how have you dealt with it." I've been here a few years and I've made several posts between the performance and boost forums about what I've done. There's another individual CF Smith who spent a bunch of time (and maybe $$) to get the 95 ecm partially hacked so he could try and retune for boost (hasn't actually changed code for boost yet, but it's a lot closer). Loki and others have also worked out different solutions to various problems.

Spend some time searching and see if you can get some ideas of what's been done, then come back with a few "mo better" questions. : )

If the 2200 is better for boost perhaps I will wait and find the ideal 98 2200 and boost that

The main reason the 2200 is better is because the fuel system / intake manifold is set up for "regular" injectors. Did you look at the injectors in your 2.2? They're the same size as throttle body injectors. It's tough to find replacements which fit right in.

What if I added extra injectors in my intake manifold? and did a P&P to try and eliminate fuel puddling?

I wouldn't recommend it, you could still have fuel puddling...

I just switched my manifold to use top feed injectors. Take a look at the pictures here. http://filebox.vt.edu/~jkuhn/topfeedconv/
