Welp... i've run into a little problem here and need to get some answers...
1) Is there an A/c delete pulley? If not would the one for the 2.4L work instead?
2) Any other idea's how to not have the compressor and still run the charger?
3) If worse come to worse, anyone have a spare a/c compressor i can buy for the eco with mounting hardware, cause my Ecotec didn't come with one...
start calling the yards, you will need the compressor. end of story.
i spent many an hour on the phone w/ gm, there is no delete pulley, nothing.
you need a compressor. I got mine off ebay for 55 shipped.
the cobalt grandam cup car running no a/c have a a/c compressor case mounted on the car. There are pics in the build book.
SO short of making your own bracket. you need a compressor.
the other is to take a 2.4 delete pulley and fab up a bracket to fit the eco
I saw an Eco delete option somewhere on this site. Check into Deflux's post in this forum about this exact topic and you'll probably find it.

deflux was talking about a/c delete non supercharged.. which is just run a shorter belt
Besides its cheaper to buy a junk compressor, cause you need to get the pulley size right or your belt wont fit or you will lose boost
When I was searching for new ac o-rings I found this a while back, it lists for an ecotec but I've never seen the part or heard of anyone using it. Might be worth a shot, found this on autozones website.
Product : Motormite / A/C Compressor Bypass Pulley
Part # 34194.
Price $39.99
Note: Bolts directly to AC compressor bracket use as replacement for a seized AC compressor and use original belt

I'm back to my college job working at advance auto parts. I will check it out tomorrow when i go to work and see if i can snag one and see what happens. I know we carry motermite parts. Other wise sigh, i will have to find a compressor.
Edit:
If thats the exact picture of the part, doesn't even look like it would line up with the bolt holes...

that looks like it fits the 2.2 ohv's and 3.1 , 3.4 and 3.8
the eco a/c compressor bolts directly to the motor , no brackets

Ummm, no. I know EXACTLY what he was talking about, simply considering it was ME who figured out the problem when we ran into it in the first place.
james wrote:www.mantapart.com you could try this.... OP 4519EC ECOTEC 2.2 TC A/C Eliminator Pulley Kit: This special cast bracket and pulley assembly replaces the complete air conditioning compressor on your engine to remove the extra weight and load of the a/c system. It frees up HP and makes the belt system more reliable. Combined with the crank power pulley kit it will give a nice power increase on most stock and more on modified engines. Note: Your a/c system can not function if you make this modification.
OP 4519EC $75.00
BUT IF YOU ORDER IT HAVE THEM SHIP IT C.O.D IT WILL TAKE THEM FOREVER IF YOU DONT.

That's what I was talking about from that post, which you can find here:

I just called and got the part number for the Eco belt without AC, It is the gatorback belt made by goodyear
Part number 405-0400, Hope this helps
What some people obviously fail to realize is with no pulley in the a/c location, there is no way to use the s/c. How are you gonna route the belt from the crank to the s/c? You're not.

well, looks like i will be snaggin Eazy's old compressor off him. Maybe if i get bored i can figure something out in Auto cad and get something on the market. But we'll see.
it should be pretty easy , i know there are 1s out there for other motors like the 1 above
only issues is finding where to get just the pulley from the above part to use , and at a rate low enough to make um worth buying , and able to sell inexpensively
they will sell
