doubling your power output should provide at least a little difference in quickness

All I have to say is if you go through with it, good luck. I just went through all that pain and making a custom setup like that took me and my dad over 100 hours each and we had all the materials, a lift and all the machines no further than 100 feet away. It's a pain in the ass for a few months but hearing it start up and driving it down that track the first time out make it all worth it. Has anyone ever pushed a 2.4 motor passed 500 whp before?

500hp? Nope, we'll definitely find out eventually that's for sure. Thank goodness I at least have my friends shop w/ lift access, and some of the machines needed. It's going to be arduous and painful, but I'm gonna commit and just do it. Thank you for the support.

Even though I got whomped on by hondas at BOTI and lost third gear. I was inspired by all the people actually checking out my setup and giving me congrats for doing something a lil bit off the normal beaten path.

The only sad part, this might not see the track again until 2008

I'm well aware of that. It was more of a "Holy @!#$ that's a huge turbo!" comment.

big turbo = Lag
if you're going for peak numbers and good drag times, that 850hp potential is badass, but that's not a turbo for... really anything but drag

sounds sweet though.

that's weak sh!t. IMHO, the DOHC 4-bangers are better engines than the v-6s

LD9 F23 FTW!!

drag all the way for me. If I wanted to do more of a street setup, I'd have a two stage boost controller and keep my current setup.

Honestly.... i think the onset of boost is going to be too high to get into the useable power range of the turbo. To make use of the turbo you will need some serious port work and a valvetrain to support high revs aka 8k rpms. I hope for the best but you should really look at the chart for the turbo (cant think of the name of it right now). You proved lots wrong with the 30r now do the same with the 40r.

Also from what ive seen "most" 40r turbos have a twinscroll turbine meaning you will want to make sure to create a manifold with a twinscroll design. I "think" the best cylinders to pair would be 2 and 3, and 1 and 4. I could be way off base on pairing the cylinders that are at tdc at the same time. It could be opposite.

You may want to look into the GT37r. Slightly bigger turbine and compressor then the 35r.

Not according to most of the people on the GA forums last time I stopped by.

Spy's GA is my favorite of all the GA's out there.

Oh and woot for the TiAL WG. Part of the decision to use a TiAL was because they are in my home state.

for the record im not doing a full rebuild. ill just be doing things to make sure I can get the 7000-7500 rpm that I need, and the boost pressures I want.

im going to keep it as LD9 as much as I can.

im not buying the whole turbo goodies yet. I have to get new engine management first, then see what it does w my current setup.

but you guys know I take awhile but I deliver results :-)
