I love my spec stage 3. I would suggest it, but there have been a few complaining lately about spec's clutches. Something about the t.o.b./slave cylinder.

I just put a clutchmaster FX300 in my car. I love the way it engages. It has just enough grab to let you know it is a performanse clutch. At the same time it still engages smoothly and is very streetable on a daily driver like mine. I followed the break in process and I have not felt it slip once when I have got on it. I would buy mine again in a heartbeat.
FORGET GIRLS GONE WILD WE HAVE GOVERNMENT SPENDING GONE WILD!
I have had 1 spec stage 3
2 spec stage 3+'s
and a bully stage 5
my fave was the stage 3+

I run the SPEC stage III and really it's a decent set up and grabs like crazy! Not too tough to learn/handle either. Although it does grab really high!
If I was changing or installing another...SPEC stage III plus. Simple reason it's a better clutch than the Stage III unit.
Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?
i hear that the slave cylinder on the spec are crap.but i had one on my 98 cavalier a stage 3 and it was great but i heard bad things about them. Are the clutchmaster junk not that many people seem to have them
thanks,james
I put over 30,000 miles on my SPEC and not one problem!
That's drag racing, road racing and just being stupid some times!!

I can't say as far as reliabitlity since mine only has 2,400 miles on it. I do know that there there customer service is very freindly and helpful. Also they are not exactly brand new to making clutches so they must be doing something right.

anything up to 380hp .. the SPEC tend to hold up well.
-Trailblazer SS - not so custom 6.0L - custom intake - custom tune
- (1) 2.4L on an engine stand (1) blown trans (2) good quad trans (1) eco trans = party

What about higher than that?

Ive got that one sitting at home, have yet to install it. I got it for 260 shipped from summit.
^^^ Get that thing installed, I'm due for a new clutch before the build and would like to know how you like it.
i think im going to go with a spec stage 3.thanks for all the info
thanks,james
I love my SPEC 3+.
The problem with the Ecotec clutch kits, and I mean all of them, is that no one makes an upgraded slave cylinder. All anyone sells are OEM units with the GM numbers taken off.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

10K PB: 54:26
Oh i see. I wonder why nobody makes them.

call 1-800-661-9700, I cant think of the guy's name off the top of my head but they're a great company and great product. But it was a stage 4, 6 puck race clutch. Not cheap but appropriately priced, and takes some getting use to.
Getting "better built" for the '08...
I'd look into clutch net at clutchnet.com. Most of the VW crowd as of late is switching to them from Spec. Their clutches hold better, last longer, and they have better customer service if you do have issues. I'm not trying to sound like a salesman or anything I'm just running one myself and I love it, so trying to spread the love.
but if you wana run a Spec, the Stage 3+ is the best thing I've driven form them

they tend to have a short painful existance. But I was trying to throw 430+hp/tq at a regular Stage 3 that was already seeing 350hp for about a year. After the retune, the car said fuggedaboutit!
