Head modifications...

Looking to put down 300-400 hp

I looked into the ferrea goodness...

Valves $367.24 for intake and exhaust
seat locators $63.84
titanium retainers $216.00
springs $312.00

That's $959.00

would I be better to buy the patriot head?
Port and polish the stock head?
run stock valvetrain?

Looking for info,

Thanks..

according to the almighty build book, the stock head should be good for your goals, unless you plan on revving the piss outta it. By that I mean increasing the redline well above 7k rpm. If you do plan on hi revs, an upgraded valvetrain is well advised. With a turbo build, a better flowing head should help you achieve you goals a bit easier (although not on the wallet).

Also, assuming you plan on swapping in forged rods and pistons for you hp goals, it might be worthwhile to have a shop balance everything for you.
So...

300-400hp turbo -> stock head is ok
300-400hp cammed turbo w/ standalone revving well above 7k rpm -> upgrade head/valvetrain
