how much will it cost for every thing
More than you can afford pal... Ferrari.
And to actually answer your question... doing everything right, you're looking at the high side of 3-5grand.

i shop in the clearance isle.
You don't need to spend 4 grand to turbo an ecotec. If you do it smart and use some quality used parts it's not unheard of to do it for under 2 grand.

You are the one who needs to grow up, just because you think you know everything doesn't mean you have to be rude to people just because they need help. So, BlownBlackZ, you need to grow out of your diapers, plus, your car is supercharged, not turboed, his question is about what he needs for a turbo system.

Actually, junior, I don't think I know everything. If I truly did, do you honestly think I'd be driving a Cavalier?
This kid's answers are readily available to be found provided he actually LOOKED for them. No, instead he'd rather sit back and have everyone do all his work for him, hence the term spoon fed. Need I explain that a little further for you?
My car is supercharged? Really? Hell all this time I thought I just had an alternator noise that just wouldn't go away no matter how many times I changed it.

true but to do it right you will spend that.
ill break it down...
Used...$650
Intercooler
manifold
wastegate
injectors
MSD inline pump
New...
Turbo-700
BOV-250
Wideband with xd-16-400
Jet 2000 coating for manifold- 238.50
Jet 2000 coating for turbo housing-112.50
Exhaust-423
Muffler and resonator-125
charge pipes-100
FMU- 200
misc fittings lines accesories-250
Gauges-650
ARP head studs-140
So i have about $4k into it, but thats doing it right the first time around so i dont have to touch it later. sure you could cheap out on other things and it wouldnt be that expensive. and i only plan to run 9 psi is all. but i wont have to upgrade much either to run more when the time comes.

That's crazy man. You do not need to spend more than 2k to turbo an ecotec. You are thinking about your setup but you do not have a normal setup, yours is pretty extensive. A lot of the stuff you have bought Vince are not a needed parts on a normal turbo setup.
If you are handy you could do it for around 1500...
GOOD used turbo - $350
BRAND NEW BOV - $150
LOG Manifold - $210
Intercooler - $100
Pipes - $150
Clamps and couplers - $75
Boost Gauge - $50
Oil lines - $100
LSJ injectors - $50
CUSTOM TUNE or FMU - $300
That being said yes you could spend an endless amount of money on your turbo, but to say that to turbo an ecotec cost 4k is just not true. Now will a 4k turbosystem run better and last longer, yes probably. I won't deny that at all. It's just that you don't have to spend a lot to turbo an ecotec really, atleast in my eyes.

i for one will never ever buy a used turbo. i dont care how little hours or miles it has on it. for the first 5 minutes it might not have seen oil and already be smoked. And all my gauges are electric because mechanical arent as accurate.
The way i see it, if you use cheaper parts, your gonna have to replace them a lot sooner than new. So my theory of do it once and do it right the first time really came into play for me when i was looking into parts. all my oil lines are ss braided. all my fittings are aluminum. I just didnt want to have to worry more about something breaking and crapping out on me. am i still nervous, you bet. less nervous than used parts.... yes.
can it be done for cheaper than $4K. im sure. but im taking every extra precaution to keep it running as long and safely as i can.
Vincent, I agree on never buying a used turbo...but I have to refute your claim about electric gauges being more accurate. More than a few will agree, the opposite is true.

You're going to need the saab 93 turbo and mani (03+), charge piping, and oil lines. It's really not that expensive for a basic turbo setup if you know where to look.

so your saying go with mechanical over electric? only reason i say they are more accurate is due to mostly being full sweep, they can get a lot more accuarate than a mechanical. plus i dont have to run tubing or anything to the gauge itself, just wires so i can fit them in a lot better too. Ive seen mechanical boost gauges be off because of the angle they were at in the dash. they just arent as good as electric gauges, in my opinion.

I agree with both you guys...you can put a budget setup together that will perform decently for say as little as 1500 and then again you can make a setup that can perform great and have lots of expandability for the 4g vince and say myself are paying..
In the end expect to pay atleast a couple thousand...
