i have been toying with the idea of boosting my car.
what are you LD9 people doing for your 16G manifolds? are you having them custom built in ram horn or log or are you "creating" your own by using an LD9 exhaust flange and an turbo manifold that uses the 16G from another car.
i havent really been able to find anything, but i know there are people running 16G's out there. might have to just go with the t3 super 60 if this can't really be done cost effectively.
im leaning more towards are turbo because if sized right i wont have to have it spool all the time when cruising. i dont really want it to spool below 2700-3000 rpm so when im cruising on the highway im not in boost or at least very very little.
let me know,
rob.

Pretty much all 2.4 turbo manifolds made use a t3 style flange, unless custom. You can get a t3 to dsm adapter to use a dsm turbo on t3 flanges manifold; I believe obx or somebody makes them and their like $40. I personaly would use something larger than a 16g, and Im actualy using a t3 super .60 that I got freshly rebuilt with internal gate and oil fittings for $230 shipped off ebay so they can be had pretty cheap.
If you dont want boost until that late, your going to need something bigger than a stock dsm and maybe even t3 super .60. Plus if your using that much larger of a turbo your going to want to tune for the higher rpm power and maybe have a built bottom end for that much power. If you dont want boost in the lower rpm's, stay out of the throttle
thats kind of what i want though. i mean i dont want a turbo so large that im getting alot of lag and im not using the turbo efficiently, but i dont want one so small that im spooling before 2500 rpms.
i was looking at the DSM turbos (the large 16G and the 20G mostly) because they can be had relatively cheap. from what ive seen of compressor maps, the t3 super 60 and the 20G dont look all too far off. since just about every manifold i have seen seems to be for the t3 style, then the super 60 might be the way to go.
then again it all depend on price an quality. i mean, i dont mind spending money, but the more i can save while still getting something of relatively good quality then the happier i am.

I originally was gona use a small .42/.48 t3, but decided Id still like more power up top so opted for a t3 super .60 and found tons of them on ebay for decent prices.
Yea I agree with ya about saving money and still getting quality. Alot of my stuff has been bought off of ebay and Im happy with everything I have, and I realy dont have alot of money in it.
Hahn uses a 20g in some of their kits dont they? Id say if you were gona use a dsm style turbo go with that.
yeah i was checking out the compressor maps of the 20G today too, but gave up on finding a good one. i spent a few hours today doing the math and looking at maps and claculators. im only looking at mild mild boost... less than 7 psi. my goal is 200 and through the calculations i can get that by giving it 5.25 psi.
we shall see what happens this year. if im not happy with the car the way it is NA something may change.

You'll be just fine with something that spools around 2500-3000rpm. It'll only spool that fast when you get into the throttle pretty good and put some decent load on the engine. You can still cruise around out of boost whenever you want.
