Reliability of parts....nuff said
Some have had luck but in the end the parts usually crap out faster hen if you woud have spent a couple bucks more and bought decent stuff.
^^^^ true, but like stated i too have seen a few hondas and eclipse's running the knock-off's and for some reason still running good, jap's must be using magic tricks to keep these things together
hondas are like tampons.....every pu$$y needs one...
mildly built 99' ln2, eagle h-beam rods, wiseco forged alum. pistons, cusco oil catch, t3/t4 super 60 garret, tial 40 mm wastegate, hp tuners, prothane mount inserts, 2.5" exhaust.
You cant use serious and Ebay kit in the same sentence... enough said,
Oh and my turbo, just my turbo, was more than that whole kit. My gauges alone, were more than that kit. you see what im getting at?
Get it, worse case the turbo frys, and Fracks up the motor.

i had an ebay turbo on my car for 1 month, and guess what, the oil seal on the turbine side completely ate the inside of the turbine housing. want to talk about a mess to clean up... stupidest thing i even did.

for some reason there is at least 5 hondas locally that are running the ebay kits and they are running 12's and 11's with no problems. hmmmm time to buy another honda maybe.
yeah well i agree with all of you but i have personal expierence! this is my third turbo setup, my first ebay t3t4 took a @!#$, my ebay manifold cracked in 4 places. my big 16g ported cost more than that kit. save some money, buy brand name and you will be pleased in the long run with the quality factor. my buddy just bought a knock of 16g for his honda, we will see some summer if a real mitsu will last longer than a knock off!
This is one of those things where you truely get what you pay for.

My buddy had one on his honda. The manifold cracked and was fixed and cracked again. Other than that his was fine. But for the money you can make your own custom setup with good parts and not a hacked intercooler piping job and so on.
~Boost. Its what's for dinner!~
I hope my eBay kit does good for me.
id say look at what people are saying. when a simple single garrett turbo is more expensive than your full kit, or 3 gauges, or a bov and wastegate together are more expensive, how good of a kit are you really getting?
How much was your kit? If you parted it out?
Turbo?
Guages?
BOV?
etc?
Curious.
So James, you are willing to throw down top dollar for all your show mods and then skimp out on a turbo kit?
~Boost. Its what's for dinner!~
^^^^ He is just messin. He did not buy an ebay turbo kit.

I can't begin to tell you how many cheap ebay manifolds I see come into our shop broken and cracked. Just because something "looks" good doesn't mean it's built with quality in mind.
Do it once and do it right or else you're gonna regret it very quickly. And just an FYI...all those broken manifolds were on imports.

turbo, $750 + $112.50 for jet 2000 coating = $862.50
Gauges, $770 shipped
BOV $250 shipped
Wideband $200
Manifold w/ Jethot 2000 $238.50 for coating, $250 for manifold = $488.50
exhaust $ 650.62 + $125 for muffler and resonator = $775.62
wastegate $250
injectors $125
MSD inline pump $110
FMIC $80
FMU $200
FMU lines $180
Oil Lines and fittings $150
Gauge Bezel $50
Plugs $25
Charge Pipes $150 +100 to weld and PC them = $250
Oil Pan $50
so right there alone, and im sure im missing things, $4816.62 + or - a few $
so compare that to an ebay kit... I know i went above and beyond for a lot of things that didnt NEED to be done. but im doing it so it will last.
i have been useing a ebay t3 for 2 years. no problems

I was curious about how much a complete Turbo cost.
And I did buy my Boost from eBay, it was not a Turbo. It was on eBay.
After I have my Heat Exchanger and Water Pump/Lines etc. and the cost of my S/C, I have about Half of what Vincent has into his. I got lucky I guess.
lucky or not, it always cost more to do it right the first time, meaning im coating things, buying top dollar gauges, and wideband, welding as much as i can, quality parts. but good score for sure.
I've got a t3/t4 from ebay 60trim compressor/50trim turbine that we bought for a custom tiberon last year. After about 2 months, we pulled it off and set it on a shelf, and even offered to give it away.
The deal with the ebay cheapies is most of them are thrust bearing turbos, they just dont last that long or spool that fast. Make sure if your going to get one, stay away from turboXS or some XS brand turbo, as the compressors are known to shatter and flow through your intake.
If i were you, i'd pony up a few extra dollars for a 16g mitsu, or if your not lookin to go over 9psi a 14b from one of the DSM forums. So many DSM'ers are upgrading to 16g and evo turbos that they will sell you a stocker for around $100 bucks.
If your deadset on a t3/t4 i have a thrustbearing t3/t4 i'd sell you, im not going to use it.
The reason they boost slowly is because the inducer on the compressor side is about an inch larger than the exducer on turbine side. The inducer is big so it requires more air to move it move it causing boost to rise slowly. If it had a bigger exducer on the turbine side such as a 2.5 or closer to a 3 in. the exhuast would be able to spin it more eff. bringing on boost faster
Also ive never heard of wet float bearing obvisouly their wet they have to be oiled but what is a float bearing id check on that one.
I agree with everybody save your pennies and buy a better setup i kno its hard but i had to wait a year to save up for my suspension, theirs just way to many questionable
things listed like max hp and and a 7psi wastegate, it should tell you what mm it is, not psi
these are wet float bearings.
