SO I've been searching around the forums for weeks, looking for info on whats right and whats not right to do when turbo'ing a Cavalier. Never had or owned a turbo car before and this will be the first time I'll be doing one. From what I learned and seen, there are many ways of turbo'ing a vehicle ( i.e. Instead of buying a turbo from a company why not use a turbo from another car and so on).
The idea is to make a reasonable low priced/cost Turbo project on my 2.2L OHV motor in my 95 Base Cavalier. I'm not sure of whether to buy parts from the company, buy the whole kit, make a custom one by buying parts separately. or searching thru junkyards and what not and make a beater turbo Cavalier.
What do you think guys? Whats the best route/way when wanting to turbo a stock cavalier. From what I have gathered, the stock 2.2L will handle the boost just fine, but how much? I'm not expecting big powerful numbers. just something that I can enjoy and be happy with.
the best way to learn is to see what others have done and are using, and what has a high sucess rate..
a DIY kit can save you money in the long run but also leaves you room for improvment

I had a feeling they would. What kind of injectors should I swap into the 2.2L?
Matt: Thats why I'm indecisive. The idea remains the same, just that seeing what is actually good and what is actually bad is whats keeping me from going further. I want to make sure everything goes right, though I don't expect for anything to go as planned the first time but it will help me gain experience along the way which will help ALOT for me.
That is the problem..there isnt really a replacement for the injectrs since they are side feed. The only real way to get around it is to do a top feed conversion. Search around and you will see what im talking about. It can be done depending on your skill level.
