i'm wondering what number i could expect to get if i go on a dyno! I know this is hard to predict number without a real dyno but i just want an idea first! This is a chevy cavalier 1999 with ecotec swap
here is the setup :
-2005 2.2 ecotec built engine
-wiseco piston 8.9cr
-eagle hbeam forged rod
-clevite 77 bearing
-Arp stud for every engine bolt
-2.5 inch charge pipe with 33X12X3.5
-2.5 inch downpipe, cat less, reduce to 2.25 inch exhaust line with dynomax 2.5 inch muffler
-garrett t3/t04b (stage 3 compressor) ar .48hot side stage 3, ar.60 cold side
-log style manifold pretty basic one
-2.3ho 1992 intake manifold (runner shortened of 1inch and fitter on a ecotec 2.2 flange
-blow off valve twin flute turbosmart
-walbro 255lph fuel pump
-650cc injectors
-spec stage 2+ clutch kit
-94 octane fuel
-i'm actually running 14psi and having pleasure playing with stage srt-4 or cobalt ss supercharge stage 2, i pass these easy, i'm planning running 21psi boost, is it realist to hope touching the 400 engine hp ????

what are you tuning with?

Kick azz is my boost hero!!! "
i say about 180 hp at the most! lol
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
I want to see pics on the intake manifold.

any good bad comments? any answer to my question? you guys never seen a 2.3ho intake on a ecotec??? i think this aluminium intake is better than a stock plastic one! also it flow much better too! it give a lot of high end power
http://cavalierdomination.monchar.com
Honestly, I believe your exhaust being reduced to 2.25 is going to hurt a lot and the log style manifold can hold you back too. If I were to give you an honest guesstimate, I would say somewhere in the neighborhood of 285-300 whp...on the high side. Did you do anything with the head, port, larger valves, new cams?? The head is where you make all of your power and that is where you are going to be really held back at (if you did not port it at least).
The SRT's and Supercharged Cobalts are quick, but even at Stage two I believe a Cobalt only puts 245 to the crank and an SRT just slightly more than that w/stage 2.
I have same build as you almost. Im trying to get to 350 horsepower this summer. Does your build consist of dual valve springs?
my head is stock! the intake has been ported and polish, the log manifold has been ported and polish too....a friend of mine run 27 psi on a gt2871r with same build as mine

27 psi on stock valve springs? The reason why i am asking cuzz im scared to run that much on mine. Are you positive they are stock on yours?

Affirmative!! in fact the engine that has run 27psi is my engine
because i bought it from my friend ! no problem at all, i already tryed 25 psi with mine with success no floating valve! the thing you got to keep in mind is to not push your light with more rev than 7000rpm

okok no dyno proof but i saw it with the feeling and it give me real power at high rev where before i never get some! you know what i mean??? if you thing change intake manifold for i custom one i recommend you this one! the only negative point is when you have to change your oil filter.... little bit tricky, i need to unbolt the power steering pump to be able to access easily to the filter, but it's really really nice intake trust me!
i can shift easily at 7000rpm and the car still push until the limit with STOCK CAMS...

OK I see a few problems here, and before I even make a guess I need some clarifications/corrections....

WTF does this say in english?

So your saying your the first person EVER, with an Ecotec, to go above 16-17PSI on stock valve springs and not have valve float? That you have done something that both myself and Hahn failed to do. And you have none at 25PSI on stock valve springs? Please provide proof of this.

Arp stud for every engine bolt
ARP only makes head studs and exhaust manifold studs for the Ecotec. Unless you ordered a @!#$ ton of each other bolt then that's all you have. I was sponsored by them, sent them 1 of every bolt, and that's all they had that matched up.

Are you telling us you reduced the exhaust on a turbocharged car to 2.25in? 2.5in is barely big enough for a minor FI build...2.25in is NA size dude.
Ok after you look that all over please make all of us other Ecotec tuners and racers a promise. You must promise us that you will clean that engine bay cluster @!#$ up in the very near future. That rat's nest you have under there looks horrible man. You could hide a lot of those wires and hoses or re-route them and make it look a TON nicer. Please promise us that. Thanks.

ARP does have MAIN CAP STUDS now for the ECOTEC as well........ YAY!!!!!
Theres a whole lot of non sense in this thread.

and dont you have to upgrade ignition for boost.

ok ok wait guys i think some thing has been misunderstanded here!!
Let's clarify something! I bough the engine already build from a good friend of mine! This guys put all parts in the engine! after than he break the engine ( 5000km) then he ran boost less than 5000km, he really ran 27 psi without any problems, i see it from my own eye! then one day he take the car for a drive then after few minute start smoking dexcool under the hood (he was so frustrated) he took the car back home and sold me the engin thinking it was the head gasket! he never open the hood to check what happening just tired of droppe money in the car.... i bought the engine from him and dropped it into my car (i didnt change anything to the engine it self) finally it was only a ose that burn on the manifold..
AND MY FRIEND REALLY RAN 27PSI ON A GT2871R WITH NO PROBLEM, WITH STOCK HEAD (only a small polish like he told me)
and for the head stud these are ARP, maybe i just badly express myself, (english is not my language) but i try the best i cant to explain myself to you guys sorry
i have a stock coil pack and ngk LTR7 plug gapped at 0.30 nothing more nothing less (exactly same as my friend got)
i know my exhaust is too small, 2.25 is not that big but for the moment this is what i have on the car! in the futur i'm looking for a 2.5 complete exhaust

Please tell me you have a PN. I'm tearing my engine open to make sure everythings ok before we get on it again and I'd love to add some more ARP parts.

Yeah I will be the first to say butt dyno's suck. My cams made a hugh difference in the butt dyno, but I gained 6 whp off of cams, header and full exhaust. So you just stated you have no proff it plows better, which is what I expected.

yea yea i know no dyno proof i know the song but i never talk about number here for the intake i never said it give me 20whp or 5whp i just told that it gave me more high rev power and it flows better! you dont need to do 20 years of study to know the stock intake is WAY TOO MUCH restrictive...

Dyno numbers do not even prove that it flows better. What makes you think a intake that is 12-14 years old flows better than a 12-14 year newer intake.
