AFRs on MP45

So I got my AEM wideband installed today. Wondering how bad these AFRs are until I get some tuning with the new engine in it.

Idle:
14.2 - 15.2

Cruise:
14.0 - 15.4

WOT:
12.8 (cold, first run after getting wideband installed)
13.3-13.5 (warmed up)

I'm pretty sure 13.5 is far too lean for wide open on 7 PSI.

Also I noticed after my wideband sensor was installed that my narrowband AFR gauge (combo'd with my boost gauge) only reads lean to stoich, never goes past to rich no matter what. It seems like the wideband screwed up the narrowband's reading somehow.

I'll get tuned after the new forged engine is in and methanol is injecting. I know some said adding a meth kit moved them from where I'm at to low 12s or 11.8ish which is I think the ideal location. So meth may come soon.

Anyways anyone with the MP45 it'd be nice for you guys to post up your air/fuel ratios and whatnot to get an idea. Thanks!

Ya that's WAY lean, stay out of boost until you get that fattened up. I know I was pig-rich before I started using HPT, we're talking below 10.0 here. Now it's pretty consistently around 11.2-11.9 when boosting, with numbers in cruise and idle similar to yours.

And that contributes to this thread how, exactly?

Because I have an m45, so there for I will be able to post a/f ratios. Ill also have alchy, nitrous, 2.6 pulley, and lsj injectors to tune for but Id realy like to see what my a/f looks like now with the 2.7 pulley on stock ld9 gmsc injectors.

Yeah upon a little more searching it looks like most are running 11.1 - 12.8 AFRs WOT boosted.

BlownBlackZ, you're running the 310cc injectors aren't you? Wonder if tuning would allow me to richen things up with just the 310s for the time being.

I would not run 12.8 on a boosted car. I would look for 12.2's. Really need to get that tuned.

Personally when I tune a boosted car, supercharger or turbo I always shoot for 11.5 A/F when in boost. It could be leaned out a bit more to get more power but I am not comfortable running things close to the edge. 12.8 is way to lean for what you are running and 13's well thats just scary.

about what saw from mine , ran low 15's in the 1/4 with afr in the 13.0 range , once i dropped the afr to about 11.5 -11.8 my times dropped to low 14's

point blank, you need fuel to make power. lean is NOT mean

yeah, i'm still on the 310s, I haven't yet seen the need to go larger, even with the 2.6" pulley that's on there now. They must be super-310s haha

Yeah weird, some people run rich with the 310s some are on the lean side. Every car's different I guess. I'll end up probably borrowing HPTuners, getting the credits, and someone who knows what they're doing, and tune with some methanol and richen things up a bit with the new engine in and hittin the track. Then it's on to 440cc injectors, exhaust, etc..

What makes you say you have no need to go to bigger injectors? Do you know what your duty cycle is at? Just because they can stay open long enought to get the AFR in the right spot does not mean you are golden.

My idle and cuise numbers are both the same, Anywhere between roughly 14.5 and 15.5.

Right now my WOT AFR starts at 10.0@2000rpm and steadilly climbs to 12.8 before redline@7000rpm but keep in mind I have a mail order hpt tune.

The 310's go above and beyond even 100% duty cycle on my car at high RPM with boost. This is an LD9 with 2.7" pulley, so I'd say keep an eye on that before you think you're good to go with the 310's and smaller pulleys....I know I'm in the market for some new injectors. Good luck.

Bringing this back a little bit...

Got my lsj injectors and aem wideband in. Let me tell you my afr's are golden without even touching the ve tables or anything, just getting the injector constant right and Im on the 2.6 pulley.

Seeing 11.3-11.8 at WOT above 5k rpm's, and the duty cycle is about 80%. Id recommend the lsj injectors to anyone with the m45 using a smaller pulley. My afr's with 2.6 pulley, alchy, and the 310cc's were just about 13's and higher on the dyno before my wideband. They wouldnt even let me spray I was leaning out soo much.

Ya, my 310cc injectors hit 93% duty cycle in 1st gear, and my AFRs are terrible (13+). I gotta put my LSJ injectors in, but I don't really feel like making another epic fuel splash yet.

Also, an interesting thing: The target AFR in the "Base AFR vs. ECT" table from the Power Enrichment section is set to 13.0 at normal operating temp. I set mine to 11.8 and will flash that along with the new constant once the 378cc injectors go in, along with some VE tuning once I get this damn 0-5v signal wire off my UEGO to give me correct readings.

I see between 11 - 12 AFR @ WOT with just my oversized crank pulley ( 6psi ) and 37lb injectors. My idle and cruise numbers are about the same as what you are seeing. I still have to look at the duty cycle numbers

I wish I woulda put them in sooner, since I put in a new rail that I modified for the lsj's I didnt have all the o-rings in there right and it took a few times and about a gallon of fuel to get it all sealed tight lol.

Throw those lsj's in and get the injector constant right, and youll prolly be surprised how good your afr's look right away without even doing any tuning.

what should the injector constant be set to when using the LSJ Injectors on the LD9?

0.265378

Equation:
current constant * (current size/new size) = new constant

Conversion:
To convert cc/min to lb/hr, divide by 10.5.

310cc = 29.5238095
378cc = 36

Example: 310cc to 378cc

.32359 * (29.5238/36) = 0.265378042
