where are you goin to put that reservoir? other thing that's been brought up is havin both inlet and outlet on same side. you are flowing hot coolant right on top of or below cool coolant. not really sure how hot it gets tho.

looks like an amazing setup with quality parts to me...
if the cobalt boys are doing it, why cant you?
I do nto think I would run the tank. The SS/SC's do not really have one. A FRiend of mine got a aftermarket heat exchanger for his SS/SC and it has a cap (like a radiator) on it. Use something like that and forget about the tank.

Im thinking of buying a battery relocation kit and puting the battery in the trunk. It will free up room in the bay. As far as the design of the heat exchanger..... thats a good point about the inlet/outlet, ill have to check on some other models.

The selling point on the tank is having a big enough tank fo that you can A) it increases the volume of available coolant B) you can pack it full of ice when running at the track.
I guess I wasnt sure if this was overkill or not...... as far as the pump is concerned do I have to worry about positioning? Does it have to be low in the engine bay or anything? Or with a pressurized system does it matter?

Oh yeah, and anyone ever wire up that "lightning" pump ? Do you need a wiring harness from ford or what?

50 feet???? Are you planning on cooling the car in front of you too? Everything else looks good though.

not overkill thats the standard setup, overkill would be nitrous or something
1989 Turbo Trans Am #82, 2007 Cobalt SS G85
Same setup I have been peicing together. Been thinking about a CryO2 setup also (but only if my friend sells me his cheap).

man after driving my car 300miles to the beach with no intercooler there can be no overkill for this thing because heatsoak sucks lol.
Thats pretty far.
Yeah, I bought most of the parts online today. The duel pass end plate is good for 30 degrees drop in intake temp alone. The giant 3" think heat exchanger should take care of the rest!

I'll second the 50 feet? I might have used 18 inches total!! I bought 3 feet and was worried and ended up using maybe half!
Everything else looks good other than get a heat exchanger with inlet/outlet on opposite sides...make running the hoses a bit easier...not a lot of room around the front and radiator! Also add in several (like 10 or so) 90 degree elbows to run everything.
Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?
yea if you can get the plug from ebay that would work, check my heat exchanger info thread, i have pictures of my pump mounting. its a little down the page, was hopin to get it stickied

Yeah the 50 ft wasnt what I was actually going to buy I just put it up as an example of the type of hose to get. I bought 10 ft today and im sure it will be too much but it was really cheap.

i'd get the reservoir for sure.. the more coolant you have in the system the cooler it stays for longer
p.s the lightning pump is the same bosch unit that is used on cobalt ss/sc and ion redlines....When mine went out, i bought one from Ford racing instead of GM because it was cheaper
why do you have 3 outlets on your end plate my kits end plate only comes with 2 outlets
My BF has a Cobra heat exchanger for his SS/SC
