Does anybody know how to install mp45 modular pulley onto the gm sc using power steering pump puller....i got the pully off but I cant get it on....need help..thx

So you're using a pulley PULLER, to install a pulley? Am I reading that correctly?

As long as your using a 3 fingered pulley puller and not a harmonic balancer puller youll be fine. Try heating the new pulley up and pretty much sliding it on, maybe a little tapping with hammer and a little lube.

Yeah i am using the pulley puller....the power steering pump pully puller and it install pulleys as well but the center screw pieces is not small enough to go in the shaft hole =S

FYI: Leo found out that the puller/installer that Nate sells does not fit into the threaded hole... wasn't it supposed to? So you can install it "correctly" without torching it?

yeah I know right... ...well dam...so the easiest way to torch this bitch and get it on with it sticking on to my shaft cause I burnt the hell out of my finger last night

Try putting the new pulley/ hub in the oven for a bit. Im gona do mine this way cause I have the 2.7 pulley on there and the tiny allen bolts are stripped are stripped in the hub.

The oven trick only works if you can run from your oven without dropping it all the way to the car and slide it on the shaft, within 3 seconds, without allowing the air from you running to cool down the pulley so it gets stuck halfway on. Never apply heat to the pulley if you do this, only the hub.

If no puller/installer works you're going to have to use fire.

Torch it, until it glows red around the hole. The HUB, do not apply heat to the pulley. Then you can slide it onto the shaft quickly with pliers.

The oven method has helped with a few crank pulleys Ive done on different cars, yes a torch would work better but not everyone can easily use one. I know the people at my apartment complex wouldnt like it if I were out using a torch in the middle of my court lol.

just use a damn power steering puller, i used it on my 2.6 and 2.5" pulley with NO problems.

You're a moron, that's what I used to remove the pulley (as did Leo), but the THREADS DO NOT MATCH, the bolt is TOO BIG for the supercharger shaft's threads so you can NOT use it to install it.

Nate's installer is supposed to have the right threads and be the right size, it is not. So Leo is forced to torch it and do it the way I did it.

do you have the m45 or mp45?? They might bediff...i have the mp45... but like ion said the center screw is too big to fit down the shaft...the kit had universal screws and such but none of them fit...the kit was from powerbuilt...but the m8 screws from nate kits was too big also and they were the m8 studs

i mean the m8 x 1.25stud was to big

All of the kits are the 5th generation MP45 supercharger.

Did you get it on by torching it yet? Put some anti-seize lube on the shaft before you try sliding it on once glowing.
