ok now i have the supercharger kit in my house ready to get installed but since my car is a 1996 2.4 my reflash wont work for this year so ive seen here that i would need a FMU ,and a Walbro fuel pump a a FPR not very familiar with the FMU so how would i install that or more less how does that work any pictures would really help.first time boosting so any help would be great.
don't have pictures but i understand that the fmu is gonna raise the fuel pressure as boost kicks in, protecting your engine from leaning out, and you know what happends after that.... your probaly gonna need bigger injectors too, not too sure though.

since you cant user the injectors that come with the supercharger (different connection) you need to get those.
I would say go with RC Engineering 320cc Low Resistance Injectors they .5 higher flow then the ones come with the kie which aree 315cc. So the extra .5 only good thing .

Fuel Pump: i know many people that have made up to 300hp on the stock fuel pump. You do not need a aftermarket fuel pump for the gm supercharger kit if you dont plan on going beyond 250hp in my opinion
Since you car is also pre-2000 you need to grab from junkyard a 00+ starter since its smaller and size and you need it.
how to install fmu search the net
i ran a FMU, crappy walbro pump and stock injectors and stock FPR. and Meth/water injection(m4 nozzle coming on at 2psi)/ stock s/c pulley.
If you run the stock GM s/c plugs, gap them down a little to .030 ish.
you need a EGR block off plate from gm, and like someone said a smaller starter.
or you can read the post on the top of the page.
a fmu hooks into the small fuel line(return). it goes like this from the fuel rail (power steering side)-------- (in)FMU(out) back to the tank. look for a Cartech FMU/Begi. that is the best one and it is adjustable rate, not like a Vortech or others that have 1:1, 1:4, 1:10 etc. disks. ( 1 pound of boost raises the fuel pressure 1,4,10 pounds depending on what disk you have in there). the Cartech one is a adjustment screw. real easy.
and you will never make over 250hp on this s/c , so disregard what that guy said about fuel pumps.. nobody has made 300hp on the stock pump alone, no way. maybe a stock fuel pump and a INLINE pump yes, but not the stock pump alone.
the injectors that come with the kit are a different size all together also.
just keep reading, there are many posts out there walking through this set up from years and years ago.
good luck
Joe way off topic but did you ever live in Michigan?

so u guys think that my 96 cavi 2.4 will work good dispite the fact it cant be tuned with HP tuners or reflashed, so with the FMU that will do it for the install after setting up all the kit i wont need a FPR right, any guess on what HP increase it will make on mine.
Jake did it.......
If i were you, i would use him as a reference. you could also convert it to OBD-I so you can tune it.

one other thing.
there is a EGR simulator out there that works, sorta. it got rid of my check engine light, but it made the car run like crap. You have to tap into the map signal wire and drops the volts and causes all sorts of drivability issues. i rather deal with the CEL, then stall out all the time.
like i said before, i ran a walbro pump, cartech FMU and the stock FPR and stock injectors. the meth/water injection really woke up the car. i never tuned it or dynoed it or had a a/f ratio figured out. but with the meth/water injection and all my other mods it was pretty quick on the stock pulley and the spark plugs always looked good.
a fuel set up not to go with and i am suprised i didnt blow up my car. = first time i got the s/c on, i had a set of HO injectors, a FPR and a 135k miled fuel pump . ran ok, but raced it once and hit 3rd gear and the car just did nothing. checked the plugs and they were grey/whiteish. not good. i think i had a a/f guage(the narrowband but modified by some company ) at the time and it wouldnt even light up in boost.
all in all it can be done, but deal with a EGR check engine light. or like chris said, switch to obd1. i almost did at one point, but didnt want to tackle the wiring pin outs. it has been done before. or switch it to obd2. that has been done before. i would soon switch to a 97 as to use hp tuners/ i had a 97 ecu, but didnt go through with it. all depends on how much work you want to do.
i also almost sent out my ECU to RSM to have them remove the egr and mess with the fuel. i was talking to them at a meet up down at HIGH REV when they were there. glad i didnt do that!. i should have known better. they had a 5psi saturn sitting there that blew up, so i took that as a hint back in the day.
you get a new kit? or a used one?
