i have a garrett gt3271 internally gate turbo and need to weld the flap shut because the wastegate hits the radiator there is a quarter sized peice of metal directly over the flap on the outside of the hot side does it unscrew because my welder said that he cannot weld it otherwise because of access limitation, sorry camera's broke, or can i weld it where the armature goes on from the old internal gate? i was told that i can still get a boost leak if the flap is not welded shut

Why not just buy an exhaust housing without the gate?

Yes, you should be able to remove the flap mechanism and weld the flap shut, along with the little arm on the outside.

agreed.....get the right stuff, but yes that assembly can be removed to weld it shut.
