M45 Oil - Lets end this thing..
Saturday, April 04, 2009 1:14 PM
I searched before I posted and read though 5 different posts didn’t find answer.

I know what kind oil S/C uses it know it uses about 8oz, my question is this, I just got a S/C here I don’t know how much oil is in it already. I know its suppose to be pre-oiled. Anyway so i did this, I opened the drain plug and looked inside while holding the s/c upright on the TB Side. I took a q-tip to see whats going on and it got a little oil on it. It looks like the gear inside has oil on it but its not bathing in it… Is the M45 suppose to be full to the point where you open S/C drain plug while its flat on the ground and it pours out?As in topped off? Because that’s not happening.
I then turned the supercharger over to the pulley side and put my finder to see if its oil on it. I got a little bit.

The reason is because I called stiegemeier to talk to them, while I was talking to this guy I asked him about the oil.

First he told me to use 5W-30 Syntic in there? I was like aren’t you suppose to use the supercharger oil from gm? He said na it don’t matter. – that’s a wrong statement btw if anyone is wondering..

Then he also said its suppose to be topped off – since is first is wrong I assume second is too?

Drain it all out, buy TWO bottles of GM Supercharger oil, but them in, put the plug back in.

Presto! 13 sec car!

Isn't this M45 brand new? It's ready to go, I wouldn't be concerned one bit. The only time I've replaced oil was when I purchased my second used blower. IIRC Chris is right on point, 2 bottles, hell he would know more than I would.

4oz was what I put in as well...at least I think so, I don't remember...but I'm pretty sure it was just one bottle.

Ya.... the first time i changed it, i only got 4 out of it, but all the info i found said it was 8.....

So back in the day, i spit the difference..6!

But if maggie says 4, then its 4.

It doesn't make sense to me that you would put in 2 bottles of S/C oil. I don't think the M90 on the L67's take 2 bottles (i think they take only 6oz of oil). I don't see why the M45 would take more than the M90.

The M62/M90's do take two bottles.

GM also says that the trans fluid in their manual transmissions is a "lifetime" fluid. Ha... ha.... should have seen my F35 in my cobalt. It shifted like @!#$ until i changed it. Same thing with the m62. GM says some dumb things sometimes. Chris would know

Hmm so someone else is smart enough to call the manufacturer and ask for sure how much to put in. And it is only 4oz.
